Guys, is it true you would rather choose a successful career over true love?

I read an answer to one of the Guru's here on GAG about how important a career is to a man. I remember him saying that if a guy had to choose between a career and true love, that he'd choose being successful because a man's job represents who he is. It simply defines a man.

He said that if his job requires a lot of focus and time, he'd do it even though it could hurt the relationship and thus he could risk losing the woman he loves dearly.

I want to know if that is true? And please explain your answer.

And the girls, have you ever been in a relationship where the guy chose his career over you?

Oh gosh.. please! Just because someone is a "Guru" on this site means no sh*t!

Anybody can be one.. if they spam enough answers, they'll get it.. it's about quantity not quality.. and that title is just for fun - not to be taken seriously in any way!

About your question.. the answer is painfully obvious: "It depends.."

I personally am not "career-oriented" person - I hate stress and I would hate planning my life like a communist.

As long as I make enough money, success in career would totally give me no sense of fulfillment whatsoever.

It's like.. "Cool - I guess.. but what's the point?"

I'm not attention-seeker and I don't seek approval and awe from others.

Those who do on the other hand - it just screams: "Lack of self-confidence"

However, successful relationships on the other hand totally give me sense of fulfillment and purpose.

But as I said - different people got different priorities.

my opinion on this is it depends on what kind of man your dealing with as there are different kinds. some are career drivin and some have those things in mind but like the challenge of juggling your studies with finding out women all at once.if your a real man(thats right I said it) you never give up on anything your career is just an excuse. the way I see this is you can go to school get all sorts of papers and degrees but you will NEVER and I mean NEVER be ready for what life has to offer.preparing to much only overly stresses you out.I mean think about it for all you media heads. look at the life of a star someone famous look how much the have and they still have the same problems as the poor people.but that's just my opinion:)

My ex boyfriend broke up with me because we've had heaps of arguments. But after we solved everything that one last day before official break up he told me he has changed his mind set to becoming someone successful before getting into a relationship again. He said he still loves me and that he would want things to work out in the future but just not now as he wants to work on himself. Honestly it broke my heart knowing that even though he still loves me, he chose 'being successful' over me. So that's my story so I guess some guys do choose having a stable career over love.

I read in a book that a guy with an unstable career will usually choose not to settle down since he doesn't know how he will be able to handle a marriage when he can't afford to take care of the kids and that guys with unstable careers are usually looking for flings.

That's honestly a tough one. It would be really hard to say just because so many factors would be involved, at least for me personally.

I would try harder to make both work before I had to chose one or the other.

I'd pick true love because then your always happy and have someone to look forward to seeing everyday :D

yes we all have our tales of experiences dosen't make you smarter than the next guy just makes lighter releasing your problems to create solution.
