i know for a fact that you need to have your high school completed to become a police officer. but would I still qualify if I've been home schooled? I Googled it, but I got no answers. so any info would help a lot!
thank you.
I don't know why not unless there's a law which I doupt. And homescoolers tend to be more disciplined. Just make sure you will get the right things and courses that you'll need.
Also be carefull about homeschool because of an anxiety disorder, it could make it worse. It's a part of what CAUSED my social anxiety after I home schooled gr8-9. I also had other anxiety but cured that, so if you want help there, ask. :)
i'd imagine so if you take all the tests necessary etc.
however as a police officer, all you'll be doing is dealing with people, so if you have social anxiety disorder, you'll either fail at your job, or worse, be sociopathic in dealing with people, something that too many cops are already
Depends on the type of schooling you received. If you are to graduate from a legit home school program that is recognized and accredited by the school system, then yea no big deal.
However, you should worry more about your social anxiety disorder. Has it been diagnosed as that? This could keep you from being able to join.
yes, it's been diagnosed. but the thing is, I have no problem meeting people, out in public, at the mall, or the grocery store. my problem is school. I just can't go. I haven't been to school since grade 9. I did a month of grade 9, and then I stopped going. I'm shocked I wasn't charged for truancy. so I'll most likely have to repeat grade 9.
but thanks for the answer, I appreciate it! :)
oh, for sure. I've already been set up with a psychiatrist. and he's referring me to a doctor, so I can get some therapy and medication for it.
thankyou!
Police officer have to be around other people too so anxiety its a good mix

If you can show you have taken any prerequisite courses, 4 English, 4 math, 3 SS, 3 Science, 2 foreign language, plus an art/music/etc., it shouldn't be a problem. Take a pre-exam for the ACT and SAT and then sit for the exams with a proctor other than your relatives. Look for a co-op that offers classes in Law, Police Science, Criminology, and Marksmanship. That will help show you are intent on landing a position in the Law Enforcement field.
I LOVE Canada... Best Police in the world... They won't let you go wrong if you tried:)
the last thing we need are more cops to harass and intimidate us
oh come on, don't hate.
i don't mean to generalize, but cops in the US tend to take their job way too seriously. I remember hearing that a cop in the the US beat a guy to death. cops here in Canada are way more laid back. they don't send you to jail for stupid reasons like having a gram of weed on you.
lucky you, I hate to say it, but I could care less when I hear about someone beating up a cop. he probly had it coming. the hate me and others have for them is their own fault. They deserve everything they get.
don't be such a hater! D:
Ya I'm sure
Ya but you might need a GED or diaploma
