A lot of people probably google other people's names... but wouldn't admit that. If he told you he looked you up on Facebook, that's one thing because he will only find your profile. If he googles your name, however, he is trying to find anything and everything about you... your Facebook, your twitter, if you've been arrested, if you've been in the newspaper for something, you get my drift!

I don't think it's creepy. It's probably human nature to be curious about another person you're interested (or moderately interested in, in any way). But people probably won't be telling other people since it's sort of... perhaps seen as "stalker-like". Like people checking out random people's Facebook pictures and such. I do it when I feel like it.

I consider this normal behaviour. One day I was bored and I looked up the linkedin profile of 200 people that I knew.

Girl does a full background check on a guy she meets online, that tells her is address, employment history, past marriages, criminal record, etc. That's great, she's just being cautious!

Well, I know a lot of people probably Google other people. The fact that he told you is kind of strange, and would freak me out to be honest. Google has everything you'd possibly want to find about somebody, so he's probably super interested in you.
