Tall doesn't work in every sport, either. There are no tall sprinters or lugers. And almost everyone in basketball is tall, so it's about the TALENT of the athlete.
Wheelchair runners are far faster than people with legs. Do wheelchair runners compete with Olympians with legs? They don't. The wheelchair runners are TOO advantaged.
This is the point about people who were born male: they are taller, have more muscle mass, longer arms and legs, bigger lungs, hearts, hands and feet. Despite the ones who USE hormones and lose SOME of their male muscle mass, there are transgender women who use NO HORMONES. But hearts and lungs don't decrease in size, and neither do height, arm or leg length, foot or hand size.
Trans women declare themselves women because they "feel and think" they are. Physically they remain biological males. Trans women taking female hormones remain "biological" males with many male physical traits intact.
There's WOMEN who have a host of advantages over other biological women. Biological men shouldn't compete with them.
It has taken 100 plus years for women to even GET their own sports. Let women's sports be for born women. Women's sports are STILL the also-rans. We don't have major league bsseball, basketball, football. Occasionally we have televised soccer, during the Olympics, weightlifting and volleyball. Women just LOST competitive posing in the Arnold Classic. No one wanted to see strong women.
With all THESE issues in women's sports, we don't need biological men wanting a piece of the SLICE of our competitive sports pie. Truthfully, women are only truly competing on the college level and in MMA sports. Professional leagues are nearly nonexistent.
I find this is more of that old chestnut of male sexism wearing a different skirt.
It only applies to mtf athletes who underwent male puberty. If they are put on blockers as a kid and undergo HRT they will basically be the same hormonally as a cis woman. If they went though puberty they will eventually loose the body mass from male puberty but they will still retail extra height caused by testosterone and male puberty. There is a science behind it and people take that in to consideration because women are a protected class. If a mtf athlete had just begun her transition and wasn’t at a certain hormonal level and she was participating in a contact sport like boxing it would be unfair because she would beat the crap out of the other woman boxers.
Plenty of rich athletes aren't competitive. Plenty of shorter athletes do amazingly well. But the advantage of being male and competing in female sports is an overwhelming advantage.
There have been WNBA teams - the PROS! - who have lost basketball games to HIGH SCHOOL boy's teams. Think about that for a second.
There are men who aren't even athletes, who don't compete at all, who can easily break women's records of various competitions, especially related to strength.
That's BIOLOGY. Biology that can't be overcome. And the fact that this isn't obvious to some people is a pretty clear sign that those people have been brainwashed to believe that facts don't matter - only feelings. It's the same crap as "there are no correct answers" and "math is racist" and "time management is racist."
Unfortunately, women's sports will have to be destroyed, and some women will be maimed for life or killed, before this gets fixed, because too many people are afraid to go against a small percentage of loudmouths on Twitter.

Time and again its been proven that when trans women compete in women's sports the dominate, you might have been a below average male athlete but in women's sports as a trans woman you are not only above average but superior. Look at Mary Gregory. She broke 4 women's long-established powerlifting records in one day in spite of being on HRT for a year and a half. Thankfully they revoked her titles but we didn't establish this men vs. women division based on wealth. I was sprinter in my youth and I was poor living with single mother but I already got ~10.3sec on 100m dash in spite of being 173cm. That would make me the fastest woman in the world if I was a woman.
I find many people in favor of trans athletes were never elite athletes. I was and I think it's important to have a sense of how much advantage a born-male body has in these things to have been an elite one at least once in our lifetime. Of course, people who never competed towards the top-tiers don't understand. Trained biological women can kick biological men's asses. But not when we're comparing elite real women against elite real men.
Trans males to females have the biological advantages of males competing in lower leveled female sports. There are examples of biological males moving into female sports and dominating the fields in many examples, but just off the top of my head handball, weightlifting, tennis, UFC, etc.
Biological males have testosterone which leads them to, on average, be faster, stronger, and as such better at most sports than their female counterparts. Even after transitioning these effects are apparent
Why separate men and women in the first place? If it's the same as being tall or rich, why not close the wnba and women soccer and put all genders together?
The answer is because if you do it then tomorrow there will be no women in sports. Not even one. There will be some female referees, until that will die out too and we will only take part as the cheerleaders.
Female sports were created for a reason. Allowing a trans person to compete with them is unfair. Their genetic makeup is still that of a man's even with blockers and such. That's just the way it is. Saying this does not mean that someone is homophobic or against them, uts simply calling a spade a spade.

Being rich or tall is not at all comparable to being overall physically stronger than your opponent, especially when being tall isn't something you had any influence over. Most sports don't really suffer due to the athletes buying their way in. If you wanna talk about motorsport, which does suffer from rich kids, that is an entirely different argument. Whether or not you're rich, you'll still have to bring good results, and here you'll have an advantage if you're a trans girl fighting biological women.
Males have more bone density, more muscle cells, build muscle easier, more cell hemoglobin; basically they are built to work harder and longer. Women just cannot compete at the same level, it's just the rules of biology.
If women and men could compete and be equal, there would be no arguments. The fastest lady on earth can outrun Usain Bolt and something like the top ninety fastest men when you compare her to the other female athletes of the world. However, that is if you correct time and account for the differences. Otherwise if comparing women to men, men are just built differently.
When you let biological men compete with women that will do nothing but hurt the females. Do you recall the story about a trans-MMA fighter who fractured the face of a female fighter? Doesn't that strike you as wrong?
This is like asking "why even have a women's league separate from the men's?" Perhaps there is some gradient where we could create more competitive omnisex games by matching stats or whatever. But who really wants to do all that work?
In any case, I know a lot of "cis" women who are mistaken for men all the time. I can only imagine they find this whole debate the height of infuriating - they have been demanding to be called women since the dawn of civilization, and have a pretty good case to make (having ovaries). The controversy is about trans-women because people who are born men have higher amounts of testosterone (the most powerful natural steroid) and men have far better hand-eye coordination which is why men can dunk in basketball and throw a baseball harder and faster. A person who was born a female will never be able to dunk or throw a baseball like a person who was born a man. This isn't political, it's science.
We're upset because of physical advantages. A dirt poor homeless trans-woman athlete will have a ton of advantage over an ultra-rich real woman. It doesn't matter how poor Heather Swanson's family is or how rich Strong Woman's family is, Heather Swanson is gonna dominate because "she" was born as a man.
s I think what people tend to miss is that when those out there who do transition before going through puberty and go on blockers to delay puberty until old enough to begin their hormone therapy matching their identity that they really don't develop all those natural advantages everyone complains about.
Even for those who transition after puberty. There are characteristics locked into place (like height for example) but transwomen will lose a lot of their natural strength advantages and have to work harder to achieve it especially after the year mark.
It's ok not to agree with anyone who transitions but be respectful of them and try to get all the details.

If you're argument stands then why do European athletes compete with African athletes who have a natural advantage? The fact is barely few people watch women's sport and it would be a shame to invite a man dressed up as a woman who has a natural advantage and specifically isn't a woman then that would be completely stupid and irrational. Sports are played competively to make money and women's sport have the lowest audiences they are paid much less because barely a few people watch it and making a man compete with them would be injustice to them.
We are all born with the number of muscle fibers that we will ever have. We can't add muscle fiber were it doesn't exist. If you fed steroids to a women she could never be as big and strong as Arnold because she simply doesn't have the same number, placement and type of muscle fibers. We can thicken and strengthen the muscle fibers that we have, but that is it. That is all

There's actually zero evidence suggesting that trans women do better in sports than cis women. The Olympics have allowed trans athletes to compete since 2004 but no trans women have ever even qualified for the Olympics let alone won. What these people against trans athletes are trying to do is create a culture war and distract us from actual problems facing the trans community. Trans women doing better in sports than cis women is a nonexistent problem.

The part we made the distinction that men couldn't compete in women's sports because generally women can't keep up with men. That is a barrier that couldn't be crossed before. Now, men can take drugs... or sometimes not even use the drugs and instead just make the claim that they're women, then compete in women's sports. The fact that they crush the normal women makes it obvious why the barrier existed in the first place.
Any assertion that it's about being equal is *your* injection. They're not about being equal, it's about merit. The only reason we have the gender separated sports is because there's just that many women that want to compete. So we create this separate division just so they can participate. It's the one compromise on merit we make.
How about you focus on real issues like healthcare instead of complaining about culture war nonsense?
Okay? but you are comparing external factors with something more internal. Don't get me wrong yeah rich people are more of an advantage but bribing is already not allowed, that's why it happens under the table and if they are caught they can get in trouble. Compared to transgender athletes competing in the opposite gender is more internal because it is something that cannot be changed and that genetics.
This statement doesn't make sense unless you remove gender division in sports. If they do neither women or trans people will have a chance against men. It's like me bragging that I can run faster then any kid in preschool. Because they are bound to have very short legs. It's not impressive because everyone can outclass them easily in that age.
