If shuffleboard counts, then I'll take my chances in saying I could beat a lot of the guys here lol

For those saying no, think beyond the major sports too, like car/horse racing, darts, gymnastics (or anything requiring more grace than power), archery, etc.

Tennis (the photo on my feed) is definitely NOT one.

Outside of sports where extreme flexibility come into play (gymnastics being the obvious one and maybe figure skating), probably not, and even then, that still takes a lot of training to be good at because especially with increasingly common sedentary lifestyles. Women don't really have any inherent physical advantages over men to the same degree that the opposite is true in most common sports.

There's a lot more sports where women can be more competitive though not really at an advantage just through practicing and applying better technique, like golf, where hitting a ball straight or with the right spin is more important than just driving it as far as possible more often than not. I've gotten my ass beat in golf more than a few times by women who take it even a bit more seriously than I do. Competitive shooting is another one (and would be a huge talking point for the feminist movement if they didn't have ulterior motives) that women can be very competitive in, and in fact the female Olympian with the most gold medals in history is a competitive shooter.

In the UK we have women winning horse racing including jumps, it’s mixed jockeys.

Then you have the show jumping and other equestrian events.

I’ve been in a few shooting and archery comps where the overall winner has been a woman. It’s often more down to the overall domination in the sport through numbers

In Darts women tend to struggle, by the 10th pint they are usually flagging.

I would say car races of any kind. When I was younger, I wanted to drive drag racing cars. I was a fast, but very good drive. When I was 16 I taught myself how to drive Mom's 63' Chevy three on the column. That thing was like a big boat. The hardest thing was pushing the clutch in, because it took all my strength to do it. It was hard. The other thing, I had to sit on a big phone book so I could see over the steering wheel.
I might be old, but I still love muscle cars. One of my favorites tv shows is "Counting Cars." 🏎️

Depending on how liberal we are with the word sports then to date there is not a single one that women perform better in. That isn't some male supremacy nonsense, just reality.

However in theory women would/should beat men at extreme endurance competitions. That is, not just a marathon but ultramarathons lasting days if not more. Now, these exist and at the moment men are winning them but not as convincingly as normal endurance competitions. The number of competitors are so few it may very well be a fluke that men are winning.

The reason women should win these is a little funny: You're fatter. Or rather, you store fat better than we do. Meaning that in theory, a super-fit woman would be able to push herself further than a super-fit man. And so theoretically when a dude collapses and our bodies refuse to function, women would realistically still have some fire left in them. And I believe that is the angle we need to take. Find something where the female body is more suited than the male.

On the whole, I’d give the majority of athletic sports to the men as we’ve seen the US Women’s Soccer Team lose 5-2 against FC Dallas Under 15 Boys squad in 2017 and many WNBA players train personnel with men to push themselves. It isn’t easy to judge most gymnastic sports as the grading is different for women and men. Skill-based sports not relying on athletic ability are still a challenge to call as many aspects of the sporting equipment are adjusted for the difference in physical attributes of the sexes, e. g., basketball - ball size and weight, rim height, duration of a quarter, etc.


As a former athlete, it’s essential to understand that most successful athletes don’t compete with the opposite sex or even the opposing team. Yes, sport is about winning, but it’s about pushing yourself beyond your limitations.

The average male is stronger and faster than the average female. Also, I am of the belief a male can sustain much longer as well. So I refuse to believe there is any physical sport where the average female can defeat the average male. I have not confirmed this, but I have heard many times the US Women's Soccer Team was defeated by a team of teenage boys several years ago. I am 63 years old and love to play tennis. A while back I had just finished a match and was enjoying a cold glass of water when challenged by a 20 something female. This girl generally defeats her opponents. I was tired and asked her if we could play later in the week. I was called a coward and some other words I rather not type here. A tired man 40 years older than she is, our match lasted about 30 minutes and I spanked her butt so bad she ignored me as she walked away. I tried to avoid embarrassing her that way, but hopefully she won't pick any more matches with males like that again. Now, I am talking about brute strength. The situation changes when you start mixing in sports where strategy becomes more important.

I would say gymnastics and figure skating because woman are better at multi tasking and gymnastics requires being able to monitor multiple movements at the same time, also maybe skiing or diving because woman are lighter and have less friction when they move. I would imagine ping pong too but don’t know if that is an Olympic sport.

Car racing requires high tolerance to g-forces, which is a little harder for women.
Horse racing maybe, since less weight might be significant?
Thing is, even in video games where no physical ability is on show, the women's teams get thrashed.

I'm sure some sports exist that women are better at, but generally men win most of them. This isn't just because of specialisation, but because men are more variant, because they're more expendable. You could invent new sports that should theoretically suit women's specialisations, and men may still win at some of them at the top level, even though the average woman would be better.

@bamesjond0069 actually there are several factors. Women tend to be less experienced at driving, surveys have shown they tend to be more distracted when it comes to driving. Also, women are shorter, so they tend to have more blind spots, generally speaking. You can make a valid argument about them perhaps being inattentive drivers but to say it's due to poor hand/eye coordination or lacking physical control of a vehicle is based on your opinion.

Men are more likely to take risky behaviors driving ie drank 3 beers, blasting music with 6 people in a 5 seat car going 30mph over the speed limit. However if you remove those people... which is mostly age. Once that behavior ages out, men have lower insurance rates because they cause few accidents while womens rate starts where it is and generally stays about the same because they get in tons of fender benders. So men pay high insurance then it goes low. Women pay medium insurance and continue to pay medium insurance forever. there's other aspects ofc but talking about men vs women there is a very clear trend.

If girls were allowed to compete against guys in a martial art like kickboxing, but to compensate for the guys natural physical advantages (height, reach, size, strength etc), the guys were forbidden from wearing groin guards, and the girls were allowed to kick them in the balls to win 🙋🏼‍♀️ that would help level the sexes, make it a more fair fight and create more interest and intrigue in the sport. My club already practices under these rules as I’ve described it 👍 and while the girls do not “consistently” beat the guys (because competitors should be closely matched), it is often a much fairer and closer fight! 🥊

I took some time and gave this some serious thought, and the answer I came to is... no. If you take the top men and pit them against the top women, the women will love every time. In fact, the top women will typically lose against men who are not the top performers.

There are very, very few women who could manage to even finish a car race against men.

There is no reason to think women would be any better at horse racing, other than size. There is no grace involved in horse racing. Put the best male and female jockeys against each other and I would put my money on the men every time.

Again, there is no grace involved in darts, only hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness, both of which men typically perform better at than women.

Same is true of archery.

I known that women have stronger legs muscles than men usually and are more flexible so I think any gymnastics a women is way better than a man. Maybe that why guys don't do the balance beam.

They compete differently.
Men do the rings and the pommel horse and parallel bars... women the uneven bars and the balance beam. The difference in strength is directly tied into what events men do vs. women. The vault and floor exercise are generally the only 2 events in which men and women do the same thing.

Gymnastics is really an apples and oranges thing... they do mainly completely different types of events.

Of course, tennis, badminton, gymnastics. Women can defeat men at most things depending on the particular individual. Men are the stronger side while women on the faster. Also men get exhausted quicker than women.

Equestrian sports for sure. Men and women compete against one another there, in fact it’s the only Olympic sport that men and women compete in together.

Of course. But it's still saying something that female Olympian gymnasts are shocked at how well men are able to do female gymnastics (that they don't normally train to do). Quite a few folks here assume that men just couldn't do these things well, but this video shows that if they were competing in these events, they certainly would be competitive with the best women (at the very least).
