America Wants the Lions to Beat the 49ers and Go on to Win the Super Bowl It’s always Detroit Vs. Everybody, but for now, everybody seems to be with Detroit…or at least the Detroit Lions. The country knows of the city’s struggles over the decades, and its story of resiliency and resurgence. And people around the country also know that the city’s professional football team has struggled in a significant way, too. The Lions are in the midst of a historic run right now, though, putting together the franchise’s best season since it last won a championship in 1957. The Lions hosted and won a playoff game for the first time since the 1991 season, and this is the first season ever that the Lions have hosted and won two playoff games in the same season. Basically, for fans under the age of 70, this is the most successful season they’ve ever witnessed the Lions play. But for some reason, the majority of the country wants to see the Lions in the Super Bowl. According to a recent poll by BetOnline, more than 80 percent of the people polled want to see Detroit beat the San Francisco 49ers in this Sunday’s NFC Championship game and advance to the Super Bowl. If the Lions beat the 49ers, it would be the first time the Lions have made it to a Super Bowl.

I’ve always been a low key Lions “fan” (it’s always the Pats🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆) because I loved Barry Sanders back in the day, plus that blue they wear is awesome, that’s a money color for me. Should’ve had some Lions gear before they blew up and now I’d look like a newcomer, haha.

But yeah…. I know everyone hates us Patriots fans, and the Johnny-come-latelys are annoying…. but I was there BEFORE the Pats were good, I was there for worse seasons than the one we just had, so I EARNED IT, celebrating all those Super Bowls. The Lions have been bad just about every year since I’ve been alive. Once in a while they’ll stumble into a playoff game, and I think they’ve now won THREE in my lifetime, lmao. So you gotta feel good for Lions fans, especially as former long-suffering fan of a perennially bad team….. that first time you win that trophy (as a fan, lmao), it’s magical. I had my turn, I want others to feel it now. I don’t think they beat SF or either contender from the AFC if they did make it to the big game, but it’s just great to see them finally in serious contention. Detroit deserves this.

I'm rooting for the Detroit Lions to win the Super Bowl, despite the fact I've never been a Lions fan.

It's not really a surprise as to why a vast majority of the USA is rooting for the Lions. The Chiefs are arguably in a dynasty, the Ravens just won eleven years ago, and while it's been awhile since the 49ers won, they were just in the Super Bowl five years ago (and that team seems to have a lot of haters). So, why not root for the team that has never won a Super Bowl, and hasn't won a championship since 1957?
