Should convicted criminals be allowed to compete in major sports?

People complained that a sex offender was in the olympics. Murderers and sex offenders are also MMA fighters too.

That’s a current question, but the current trend, at least in blue states, is to give convicted criminals more rights, not less (at least one states now allows them to serve on juries when they couldn’t before). I think if they’re currently on probation or parole they shouldn’t be allowed to compete, but once they’ve paid their debt to society it’s fine. Maybe something could be done to keep convicted sex offenders competing in the Olympics away from minors, since some of the competing athletes are also underage.

Leagues and federations also protect their image and fans, so they often set higher standards than the legal minimum. Certain crimes, especially sexual or violent ones, understandably make people feel unsafe.

Personally, I’d allow case‑by‑case decisions, with lifetime bans possible for the worst offenses.

Why not? Most of the NBA and NFL for a long time almost needed to have drinking drugs and domestic violence on their sheets to stay on certain teams.

Petty crimes, YES. But sexual offenses and murders, they should be in jail or fight each other to the death

If they served their time , then everything has been repaid , sure. Sometimes murder wasn't really murder.
