people think texting back right away makes it seem like your desperate and waiting a few minutes between texts is a way to show that you 'dont really care' which makes you more 'desirable' because your harder to get. unfortunately we hate it but it works. for those few minutes your stuck thinking "what the fuck?" "have they ready my text?" "are they busy doing something" etc. in my opinion this is the stupidest shit ever. yet i end up playing it anyway.. why? because texting like anything in life is a 'you get what you give" type interaction. if i text a girl "Hey" and it takes her 20 mins to reply - "Hey" . you can bet ur ass im not going to be replying right away like "oh how was your day, thanks for getting back to me" .. lol fuck that. if one person is going to treat texting nonchalant then that will automatically set the pace and rhythm for the rest of the conversation. now if she texted back "oh hey! sorry i didn't get your text right away" that would be different. but when does that ever happen? LOL. then there's people who actually suck at texting (which people who play the game will try to use that excuse. "oh im just really bad at texting".. yea okay..)
Depends. I'm a thousand, as you know😷 so I wasn't brought up with that instant response stuff. You would hit someone on their pager, and you waited for them to get home to call you back, or they'd find a pay phone or use someone else's house phone. So it could be a full day before you heard back from someone, haha.
But I hear ya, it's stupid to sit there and just not text to make some sort of point or give some kind of impression. I used to do that dumb shit when I was younger, wait a couple days to call a chick after I got her number, leave her twisting in the wind. The premise was "women want sex as much as guys, but just like 15 minutes later than guys do. So if I hold out for 20 minutes, SHE'S chasing ME for 5."
Nowadays I don't know though, with so many online dating apps and sites, etc, I feel like everyone just has like 20 pots cooking on the stove, whereas back in the day I'd be talking to like 2-3 girls max at a given time. Now it's just like on online menu, which is cool for variety and options, but kinda sucks because everyone else is playing the same game.
It really depends, honestly. Like if someone texts me, and I am in the middle of something, I will respond. If they don't respond back quickly, I will forget them, and continue what I am doing... lol 😂
I'm guilty of it. I get side tracked so easy at work lol. I forget sometimes and to put the cherry on the cake I'm not fast with texting.. fast on a normal keyboard. I lived a sheltered life lol
Depends on how important the message is.. If it's like about making plans to go somewhere, I'd like "fast" answers but in general I don't mind, since I also give slow replies.
Eh, if the person has a legitimate excuse, I don't really mind. However, there are those moments where you know they're not that busy and can respond to your conversation.
Yeah considering everyone's glued to their poems nowadays, if they take a day or two to text back or a day goes by and they don't, you know they had some time to text.

Exactly. I don't have patience for that. I was talking to this one girl off POF who gave me her number right away and told me how cute I was and how we should meet up. But she'd always say she'd have no time to meet up because she's so busy with two jobs and going to school full time.
Then she'd text back days later after asking her a question. Then I gave up and then after a week from not hearing from her, she's like hey long time no talk. I responded the next day, asked a question and never heard back. I just gave up because I'm not gonna chase someone around just to meet up. You're either interested or you're not. It's dumb that people my age, we were the same age, have to do this shit.
It's like sure people get busy, but to the point where you're talking for a month and making no plans? Get the fuck out of here.
@bloodmountain1990 Hey, I feel ya. It's weird as hell and, if someone is interested, they'd text back sooner rather than later in my book. I'm guilty of seeing something and meaning to respond right away, but have something come up. However, I do respond eventually once I have some free time again and realize I never said anything. Sounds like she may have had someone else, got rid of him, decided to talk to you again, but then just wasn't as interested or found yet another person to talk to. Hate to say that, too. Welcome to the dating world, I guess.
Slow texters? slowness can mean many things like some people are slow because they can't type fast. and some people deliberately reply slowly like as if they are trying to test the other person's patience or something.
Yeah, the texting games suck. But it's only because many people don't like to feel they are being to "needy and clingy".
Friendships or relationships, it's a massive put off for many people. It's shows the power imbalance that one is invested into the one way more than the other.
I'm sort of in a different generation but I was never much of a texter and I kinda had to learn to respond more quickly when it comes to women who love to spend time texting long dialogue that can be said in a 2 minute convo. I don't like my hand glued to my phone so I text do what I need to do then come back to it. However I don't like playing games so if you think he is I would "leave" for him.
I don't really care. I text very little in the first since I talk far faster than I can type (especially if it's on my phone and those pinhead-sized buttons that need a toothpick to push). After about 10 messages back and forth if I don't have her number and talking to her the old-fashioned way by then she's not even worth texting. Is everyone a deaf-mute these days?

the only thing more upsetting is if I ask/say something with no reply. BUT, later on I'll say something and that will get a reply (though still not mentioning my prior comment) -__- smh
in my case I reply whenever I feel to. it's not a game for me... for ex. sometimes I just go out and leave the mobile at home. My advice is: don't over think it. The best that might happen is you feeling lighter and (if the case) beat his own game. :) cheers
I never text anyone anymore for the past year because im trying this new app on my smartphone called the telephone. It works very well in getting my message across. I only respond to texts by phone calls.

This is why I hate texting. There's always the mind game of not texting too soon but not too late but which can be confusing as fuck. I'm too old to play mind games like that.
Stop texting back so fast. I'm the same way I hate keeping people waiting for a response. But I noticed that if you wait like 15-20 mins or longer they start to wonder about you.
