Why do people keep unfollowing me on Instagram after I follow them back?

This has been happening more frequently recently. I keep getting people, mainly girls, following me on Instagram and I usually follow back. However, when I go to check their following list after a few days I am no longer there.

I remember this one girl who followed me. She has 2 accounts. One for her social activities and one for her work/business activities. On both accounts she followed me first and so I followed her back. However, whilst I thought she was following me as well she stopped following me. Why would she follow me first and then unfollow me once I followed her back?

A lot of people on insta use this trick. They follow someone for a while, usually small accounts hoping that person will get interested in them and follow back. Then once in a while they purge who they follow so they don't look like an account that's fishing for followers

It sounds like certain photos of yours are putting people off, or perhaps your activity on THEIR instagram pages is putting them off. If you come across as too forward or needy then they may get spooked.

I don't really interact on their pages. I will like one or 2 pictures but that's about it. I rarely comment on pictures.
