I prefer using old model phones.
Is it weird that I don't have a smartphone?
I prefer using old model phones.
eff any phone. people become less connected with reality, start to get sucked into their phones, then when there's no wifi or data left, they start acting like the world is going to end. texting is dumb too, but phones are for calls only in my opinion. even then... if i leave the house... i dont want to be found... if im driving, working, bizzy in any way... i dont want calls anyway
Nothing wrong with that. You just may not have the needs like everyone else does for a smartphone, although smarties are helpful for things like online banking and buying stuff. I have a co-worker like you who's like 18 or 19 I think and she still has a phone like that too.
It's not weird. I had a phone like that for several years and I loved it! I started buying more expensive foods 8 years ago and I did not feel happy about it - it was harder to use - required more learning time - often frustrated me with new updates - and I had to hide it sometimes so people would not be upset I had more money than them.
I have one because I need it for work. I realized It's useful when I need to look up something when I'm not home.
If you don't need it, it's cool if you want to use an older phone. It's not common, because most young ones want to brag about their cool expensive phone and take dumb selfies.

I don't have a smartphone either. If it's weird (and I personally don't think it is 😉), we'll be weird together. 😄
let's be weird together!
Considering my grandma even has the newest iPhone... yes 😂
Does having it bring back a nostalgic feeling or something? I remember having a slide phone. I don't think I could go back to it though. 😅
I'm not allowed to use smartphones lol
haha, I'm getting ready for a test which is vital for my future, and all researches show that smartphones distract us.
Ahhh, dude hop you ace the test! 👌 I'm really not good at tests :')
The internet distracts me. I was way more productive those months that I didn't have internet. But bOi do I love having it though. I felt so disconnected with the world without it. It was a weird feeling. But also felt kinda liberating.
No, it's not weird at all
The purpose of a mobile phone, as another user already stated, is to make emergency calls and communicate with people, when needed; not to take selfies and be online 24/7...
Smartphones are a waste of time. They should be called dumb phones instead, because they make people dumb and apathetic (impassive).
Of course, people here are brainwashed
Its not weird at all. I think thats preferable. Especially since most people have computers at home anyways.
I have the cheapest smartphone. Its great! I hardly use it. I only use it for the navigation when travelling and to play music on road-trips
other than that I only call 3 people regularly.
I don't call anyone but I have to carry this phone with me because my parents are over-protective haha.
Thats very sweet, I think your parents are right to be concerned.
why don't you message me?
I grew up in poverty, so I didn't even had a cell phone to check time and date until high school when I made a bit of cash and bought a cell phone just so I had something.
I got my first (high end) smartphone in summer 2017 and I'll keep it until it breaks itself. I treat all my belongings with great care.
I grew up in poverty too. We had a no phone, a tiny am radio with 1 speaker, and a 9 inch black and white tv that barely worked, that none of us were permitted to touch, so we never really watched it...
Its a big achievement that you still have not fall a victim of the smart phones, they on the contrary make the person dumb by hogging all of their times with one app to another.
No it's not weird , sometimes Smartphones are nothing but a headache
i got one the LG Stylo 4 + and it's a good phone just the battery sucks
it don't last long i went to bed with 100 % and woke up with it like 80 %
and this noon into evening it went down to 59 % . So yes i believe the
older phones are better than these new ones coming out.
'Normal' is not overly important.
It is advantagous if you are prone to dustraction to NOT have one. It was good for me when my phone broke during an intense training course. I didn't fix it for four months I was so busy and focused.
But it is very useful in a career for networking if you can somehow remain focused on the utility and find entertainment elsewhere through your laptop or computer.
It is because a lot of times they stop making those models so if your phone stops working you're forced to get another model such as a smart phone anyone. Smart phones are any and everywhere and have better security
That's not what I'm referring to
Most people who use those phones (not smartphone) are:
Drug dealers.
Old people who are not able to learn new stuff.
Low IQ level people, for obvious reasons.
People who use home PC/ laptop/... more then phone and stay home most of time.
Nearly forgot poor people, who find laime excuses why they do not have smart one...
Whatever is good for you use it why you care about other people opinion?
That is where people going today 'mine is bigger then yours', what is the point?
That's really weird especially a girl your age.
I have a guy friend that doesn't use smartphones either. He said he doesn't like being tracked and doesn't like how you have to give up privacy to use certain apps. So he's using an old phone also.
Not at all weird. To each their own. I find a smart phone very convenient. I don't have to break out my wallet at the store or petrol station, even. We have an app that allows you to make a few clicks and voila. Saves you from standing in lines for half hour during the rush hour.
That is not weird at all. As long as the phone functions for what you need it's normal. ♥️🥰
I use it only for calling my parents lol
Nailed it 👌👍
Yes! Almost everyone uses one as an easy way of communication 😶😅 it has its perks BUTT it's not bad that you don't use one. Makes you actually interact more outdoors (:
It makes you notice the life around you. So not that strange. How ever many will find it hard to get a hold of you. Many relationships friends or lovers, are not ready for phone number lvl, so they use snapchat or something of the kind instead, then a relationship deepens often. With out the apps I guess you just have to meet for a cup of coffee
yeah it's weird but at the same time it is cool. it suggests that you don't need to constantly take selfies and you are not obsessed with yourself and your online profile like so many are. if i see a girl on the street using that phone i'll propose to her
Not weird, but definitely uncommon.
Weird is having no cellphone, like me.
I’ve contemplated the idea of getting one, for emergencies, because up to now I’ve been using the old IPhone 4 of my mother, since her job bought her a new one for work.
I assume it's uncommon, because I think most people around our age that have phones, do have a smartphone.
Nothing wrong with, it's basic, serves it's purpose, is more durable and most likely has an amazing battery life.
It's also cheaper.
If you don't have a smartphone, than more power to you. The prime purpose of a cell phone is to make emergency or business calls, smart phones are not cell phones, they are portals into a fanciful alternate reality.
I don't think its weird. You're probably a lot better off for it in the long run.
aww, thanks.
I charge it only 1 or 2 times a week
