Would you ever buy a social media platform?

Yes I think I’m going to buy facebook and only negative things towards the media will be approved. Lol… it’s too much a slippery slope… the woke have ruined it all. It’s y I have to “identify as a heterosexual female”…” birthing person” ….😂🤣🤪 instead of a girl that hopes to be a mother sometime. I guess I’m a minority.
Buy as in "pay a subscription in order to use", or buy as in "buy the company itself" (à la Elon Musk)? The first one, no. The second one, probably not either - if I were ever that vastly wealthy, I like to think I'd spend my time and money on something more worthwhile. That being said, the Twitter share price dropped 12% as a result of Trump being banned, so maybe all you have to do is buy Twitter for $44B, and then you can just unban Trump for an easy $5 billion when it goes back up?
I would buy Gag.
I would probably allow nudity in the sexuality section, (No minors allowed), NO RACISM OF ANY KIND!!
There could be a separate Sex Education Section for teens to ask about birth control and all their virgin concerns.
I would also encourage people to show their faces and make this like a real community where you recognize people, and they aren't so rude because you see them too. LoL!
lol

.
literally
why would I?
when I can download it directly from the app store

If I could buy one it would definitely be Instagram. I would switch a few things up. I feel like IG could be making so much more money.
If I'd want one - I'd make it myself :D
''buying'' is for those who have no clue about how 'it works'.
We all know who I have in mind just now - harrr harrr
sure. if i had the money... owning a social media platform is pretty much the ultimative power today.
Let me challenge you: what ''power'' would 'you' have?
@andreasderjuengere well look at elon musk and bill gates. they have the power to bend government decisions to their will. not just nationally but globally. and they don't mainly achieve that by bribing politicians (or using legal loopholes to let's call it "convince" them). they do it by forming public opinions and forcing a societal consent to their ideas.
you saw that with the vaccinations campaign that billgates and his foundation founded. and how much of a power gain twitter is for elon musk was also already proven in the past. like he just needs to tweet one line and he will make billions on the stock market.
and don't even let me started with google. which owns youtube and basically a majority of the email traffic in the world. try to push an opinion that is "factually debunked" in the first 10 results in google. good luck.
@andreasderjuengere i mean why do you think is elon buying twitter? for fun? or cause twitter is making so much money? heck no. cause it gives him power. just waiting for bill gates and jeff bezos to buy their own social media platform too.
So you mean the power to manipulate others?
I refuse to be manipulated; at least on me that ''power'' is wasted :D
Further: to -ermm- ''shape'' the opinion of others... where is the individual benefit, or the benefit overall?
Market ''shares''?
Stock ''value""?
In a hundred years we'll all be dead. A few hundred years back others had 'the power' - and do we remember any of them?
@andreasderjuengere there's a few people who's opinion is harder to shape. but that's a minority. i mean you don't need a degree in sociual science to see how viral videos spread. opinions spread the same.
i mean twitter and facebook are already doing that. they hide opinions they disagree with. twitter even went as far as to litterally ban the sitting president of the country their company is located in. like if you don't see "silence the president" as "powerful", then i guess you don't see power generally.
benefit overall: force agreement for whatever policies you wanna push. that can lead to fullfillment of your personal ideological goal or just to make profit.
yes in 100 years we're all dead. but in 100 years people still will remember people like bill gates, hitler, stalin or ghandi , mother theresa... doesn't matter if good or bad. who's talked about a lot is remembered. and if you own a big social media platform, you basically own the means of "being talked about"... like sorry. but if you don't see how you gain power from this, you're blind.
I see what you mean. And i piity the disabled minds for that.
About the names you mention: I can agree to it.
But I have strong doubts that Bezos or Musk will make it to that 'historic' list - unless they engage in some genocides :D
THEIR ''power'' is for the moment only.
@andreasderjuengere well truth is that you only believe your mind isn't impressionable and that you won't fall for bullshit ever. that's not a fact. that's you believing you're better than everyone else, which there's a very very good statistical chance you're not.
why do you think the classical media houses exist. and why do you think they call the media the 4th power of the state? yes you won't be able to single handedly mold everyones opinion, cause you're not the only player in tha tbusiness, even if you own one of the plattforms. espcially in times where the classical media are alreay dying and struggeling to retain the relevance they onece had. but you can still have a very signiticant impact by owning one of those platforms.
ultimately everyones power is only there for a moment. ultimately everyone will be forgotten. i don't undrstand how that undermines the argument that control over a social media platform give you massive power.
but you know... if elon musk makes it to mars. he may even be remembered untill the end of humanity on earth, which will take probably a few billion years. so that to some is probably worth the effort.
I'm not so sure about that.
WHO was the boss of Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins? :D
I'd definitely buy tik tok if I could. That's the only one I'd want to buy
Don't think my pocket money is enough for that lmao
Only to destroy it, and I certainly don't have anywhere close to that much money to burn.
buy yourself some "calzones" first... my mother would say, lmao
Sure if I had a spare Billion dollars in my couch cushions.
No, I do not know much about social media and would not know how to make it better.
Oh, yeah! I'd buy Fascistbook to turn it into a freedom of speech platform, not the user tracking digital dictatorship that it is now.
Nah I like my investments tangible... might buy and rent office space to them or something like that
HELLLLL NOOOOOO!
PFFFFFFF! XD
Social Media is poison on its own. Now I need to buy it.
I'd buy it only to shut it down.
@joeldalton Which one would you like to shut down?
@random_girl95 ALL OF THEM. But I'd start with tiktok, then facebook, then twitter, then snapchat, then instagram.
@joeldalton What alternative will you then recommend instead of them?
@random_girl95 going outside and having fun with your friends and family
Sure if I had the money
No but I would like to own this site
nope
Probably not.
