For general use, if I'm looking to save a higher quality picture, I prefer PNG because it's a larger file with better detail. But if it's an image I'm saving where utmost picture quality isn't of concern, I prefer JPEG. In most cases I convert PNG files to JPEG to save space, and sometimes I'll save the original in PNG and a second copy in JPEG for easier sharing and uploading.
However, for photography, I shoot mostly JPEG files for convenience and a smaller file size, but again, if I want the best picture quality for editing and rendering, I prefer an uncompressed RAW file. The cameras I have can either save one file type or the other, or both simultaneously.

JPGs or PNGs. F*ck everything else JPEGs piss me off! They're like imposter JPGs.
SVG or TGA
SVG good for images to look good at any resolution and for pixel art tga gives a really small file size. JPG it is the easiest to work with.
