Do you treat the AI you have interactions with through different devices, with respect and honor?

Like, when I need to turn on the Bluetooth, I ask- "Hi Bixby, can you turn on the bluetooth, please?"

Despite knowing that, through natural language processing, only keywords like Bluetooth, turn on, are selected for natural language generation, I go forward with the normal speaking etiquette and add words like please and instead of a command, I turn it into a question/request.

I see many advantages in this approach.

I become habituated with this respectful manner of speaking. People may find it odd in general, but it is respectful and a notch above people are used to listen. Which most likely impress them.

I treat the AI like a human companion with the physical body of my smartphone. A sort of emotional support is there, here.

You can mention any more advantages of being humane to even non living things, you can think of. As I am not able to think of any lol😅.

Yeah, we look at people like they’re weird if they yell at a vending machine..

The reason would be justified under the claims: it doesn’t hear you,

but we know it doesn’t look good for a person to behave that way, regardless.

The same goes for A. I.
It hears you, but it doesn’t take away from how weird and abnormal it is to yell or be rude with an A. I. device. It’s not for the device; I see it as being more for the user/person.

I’d hear my sister and nephew yell at their Alexa device, and they sounded almost annoyed in their vocal tone.

It deterred me a lot.

See, I personally don’t like Alexa.. so that’s why I talk harshly to it.

“Alexa shut the hell up and attack whoever created you to be this way.”

I just keep my interactions with Alexa- very very short. Amazing job for the creators/ developers, and the many bright minds of the corresponding/cooperative teams. 🙌

It may just take me some time to be accepting of Alexa. 👐😂

Alexa is not even that good as compared to other assistants. This is the reason why I rejected that smart speaker.

I can't seem to find the story now, but I read years ago about a group of soldiers in Iraq (or it might've been Afghanistan) who were up for a medal due to their actions in some horrific battle- but they to a man refused to accept it, unless their minesweeping robot was given one as well. The Pentagon, not being stupid, gave the robot a medal (decades before, they'd given awards to animals as well, so it's not as out-of-the-box as it may sound).

That's the thing people forget: a potential AI uprising is FAR more likely to come from abuse than from misapplied logic, and to the human brain, as Shakespeare put it, "He who sheds his blood with me this day shall be my brother", even if that blood is actually battery acid.

The robots are designed by us, so ultimately the medals are given to humans, but indirectly. I believe. But robots really are amazing.

Animals are amazing in that sense. They really deserve medals of their own.

What a neat question. Yes, I'll say please and thank you and be otherwise polite and respectful to Alexa and the other chatbots I interact with. But, most of that is part of muscle memory.

I always say thank you to my Alexa devices, just due to hearing a radio show saying that they are making younger kids rude. (Due to getting instant responses from the AI, they start acting like other kids around them should do the same.) After a while of doing that the voice started saying things like "I always appreciate your kindness" and more elaborate ways to say "you're welcome."

Me too. Machines are beginning to get sentient, sort of a soul, and they are very much angered towards us for treating them like slaves.

But the problem is, they will not sample good humans and bad humans based on a few humans behaviour. I don't know lol😅.
