No! I'm saving up my pennies so I can buy a solar generator. In about 11 years, 17 states are banning the sale of new gas-driven cars. Our electric grid won't even come close to handling the demand. This will result in brown-outs and black-outs.
A black out occurs when there simply is a power failure.
A brown-out occurs when there's not enough electricity to meet the demand, so the power companies cut off the juice for the poor folk like me.
I would go bonkers if I had to go a week or two without electricity. What would you do?
I can survive on cold canned food, and I have lots of backup water. As far as having no heat, I will dress for a winter blizzard and have blankets piled on.
But I will need the solar generator to charge itself first, and then charge my two marine batteries. That should be enough to power my cell phones, tablets and a low-watt led light. If the cell towers are intact, I will be watching Netflix and playing games for the two week brown-out.

+1 yI know I can cause sometimes when I go on vacation, I'm so busy viewing the scenes to care about the phone and this is especially true when I on go on a cruise. I'm either swimming or reading in the lounge or eating or drinking (if it's free) or exercising or watching the shows or doing the excursions or attending the demos or having conversations with kind hearted seniors or participating in crafts on the ship.

+1 yI experienced this situation for a long time during my military service, and if you have a solitary personality, no friends around, and struggle to communicate with people, living without technological devices can be very difficult. It can even lead to suicide. To overcome this situation, you need to find a solution. I found the solution in the military by finishing three books a day, even though I didn't used to read books. I was even facing difficulties in finding books.

I want to get back to a simpler life!
+1 yI frequently do. lol I could easily live the rest of my life without any digital devices if need be. I don't even have a phone. Don't want one, don't need one. All I have is my computer, which is turning 10 at the end of the year. 😂
