Do you think humanity might try to wipe itself out to slow down progress?

When I look at the snowball effect of technology that has been occurring and how it continues accelerating, I wonder if we will... someone... will "lose it" or consciously decide society is not ready for all this, and try to set us back a few centuries to slow it down.

A lot of the technology progress can be good. Trouble is, can hit on our worst issues... security, trust, fear.

Quantum computing, artificial intelligence, bio engineering, space... to name a few.

We are in a massive time of social change pushed by technological discovery.

Will someone try to throw sand into the cogs and slow it down?

Wars, plagues, social uprisings?

Do you think those in power might try to "pull the plug"... if it looks to be getting out of control?

Granted... often wars lead to new technologies. But what if many of the top physicists were retained by Germany and wiped out? They've done this in Cambodia and China and Germany before... terminating people. This time... it's global.

In my experience it has more to do with unsustainable living (not being able to properly afford food/rent) combined with current social issues, where people don't know how to talk or how to take a compliment. That alone is a huge step towards humanity wiping itself out, among the current ongoing wars and conflicts.

Technology has enabled many things and among those is (from what I have personally experienced) girls REQUIRING me to have a social media account or else I'm hiding something or I'm a serial killer or I'm a liar or whatever.

A declining population isn't tragic however. Earth can do better without us anyway.

you have to meet them in person and make impressions, only way then.
I mean as the tech becomes more scary, someone (at the top) or maybe AI iteself decides to start a fight. wouldn't take much for a snowball effect.
I for one am glad a lot of the nukes are controleld by 1960's technology. there's talk of upgrading it... bad idea:)

I think people will keep trying because basically the ones who do are trying to find a way to live without God. That path leads to death every time.

Here in Canada, the fertility rate is 1.33 children per woman,63% of the 2.1 children per woman necessary to maintain population.(Ours is 40,000,000+.)
