The latest Apple iPhone 17, does that mean 16 times Apple didn't get it right?

Apple's latest iPhone is its iPhone 17, meaning there are 16 models that precede it.

It's interesting to note that the first iPhone came out in 2005, 20 years ago. 17 models in 20 years, about one every 14 months.

Does that mean Apple is still working to get it right?

Or is it just Apple's business model of planned obsolescence, getting people to buy the new model each time one comes out. No wonder Apple is one of the world leaders, just behind Microsoft, with just over US$ 2 billion in Market Capitalization,.

Every year, automobile manufacturers come out with a new model. And not just an upgrade of one model, but each manufacturer has several models. Many of the newer models have new features, but many just make some changes that are different, not better. Yet they have no problems with finding buyers for all these cars. And this year the average price of a new car is over $50,000, far beyond the price of a phone.

Most people only use their car for a couple of hours a day, but they use their phones throughout the day because it not only communicates with others, but it also is a huge storage center of information people use all day. It can show them maps and provide directions for travel. It can take pictures and send them to others. People use them to get weather updates, make charges to their accounts without having to have their credit cards with them, compare prices and features of various products, remind them when it is time for an appointment. I have an older iPhone which serves me well and do not feel the need for a new one each year. But if I did buy one each year, it would cost me far less than a new car every year, which many people feel the need to buy.

Compare Apple Market Capitalization to Ford Market Capitalization, and the other automobile Market Capitalizations. They are working to make their product better for more people, not to just get it right.

It’s a great money making company a great phone, but a con artist company a scammer company. They don’t need brand new iPhones every single year. They don’t do that much technology and they hide things and keep it behind on purpose for the next year

I'm sure the very first one produced will function just fine as a phone and texting. However they know we wealthy Americans can't be without the newest and latest so slowly keep adding new features so we keep spending our dollars on updated smartphones.

The iPhone is one of the biggest scams ever thrown at the consumer. Very overrated and extremely overpriced, suckers still buy the garbage.

I’ve had an iPhone off and on over the years. I think they’ve progressively become better over the years with the exception of the 6-8 years. Then they released the X driving the price of all premium smartphones from $650 to $1200. I don’t think I’ve ever seen good value from iPhone since then. With that being said, since the iPhoneX, I’ve had two other iPhones, the 13 standard, and 16 Pro (I got a really good carrier deal for that one) had I not, I might have tried Android again for another cycle.

The fact that manufactures like Apple and so many others still manage to sell the newer phone is just great marketing and due to the sheeple who MUST have the latest device as it comes out.

I won't stand in a line to get the newest iPhone. I won't even consider one of the older models.

Apple plays the exclusivity game. They want people to think they just have to have it, that's it's so much better than anything else on the market, even their own previous products. Many fall in that trap. I know people who swear by iPhone and don't even use 10% of what it's made for.

that is what Apple would like you to believe. When I go to the gym at 5AM I used to see the lemmings lined up outside the Apple store on the day the new iPhones come out.
