The "mask" is a public media image to scare and intimidate the public into thinking we are some shadowy cabal up to no good.

When in fact, we have jobs, lives and other interests outside as well.

The idea is that it hides your identity. If a rival hacker hacked your webcam, you'd remain anonymous. In reality you can just cover or unplug the webcam for the same effect.
