📺 If the TV suddenly breaks by not switching on blackscreen or discoloration, what would you usually opt to do?

First, check on YT for ideas on how to fix it myself.
A year ago, my washer stopped rotating when in use and I called a fix-it guy to deal with it. He charged me $80 and all he did was spin it by hand about 1/4 turn!! It's been working fine ever since!!
The point is, it might be some really simple adjustment you can make yourself or get someone that knows more about such things to do it for you and save you a shitload of cash.
I bought a used laptop about 20 years ago and eventually had to get a new keyboard, DVD drive, lid and screen for it. I changed all of them myself after watching a few videos on YT about how to do it.
Mom had cancer all over her body. HUGE purple and green welts and I went to the store and bought two things to cure it for her. I mixed it together and started giving it to her twice a day and, within a week or so, her Dr. told her, "I don't know what you're doing and I don't WANT to know but, whatever it is, keep doing it because your cancer is going away." Within 2 months, she was clean!! I learned how to make it from a YT video I watched right after cancer killed dad. I wish I would've thought to look for cures before he died!! He might still be alive today!! He'd be 102 in a month but, he died at 81 and nobody could believe he was even 61!!

I've "fixed" four of them before... and soon will work on two more to see if I can do something about them

but in these cases, it's been as "simple" as disconnecting, cleaning and connecting back certain adaptors... and block certain sensors

never had one looking like that one in the picture, though

the tutorials are all on YouTube... lol

With the cost of a new TV being relatively low, I would just get a new one. I think it would be close to the cost of a new one to get it repaired. I don't even know of TV repair shops where I live.

By the time they get parts, charge you for labor, and make the repair, I bet you are close to the cost of buying new. Plus, that is likely a long process where you're without the TV vs getting a new one the same day.

If it's $1,000 then get the $75 warranty for 3 or 4 years. They usually just refund what you paid because it's easier and cheaper for them, then you can go get whatever you want.

If the TV is less than 3 years old and cost more than $1000, it might be worth a repair. Otherwise, buy a new one.

Most TVs sold today are not built to last 20+ years, but rather 5 years. They are inexpensive to buy because they are made cheaply. The exceptions would be a few high-end models from major brands (Sony, Samsung, LG).

Replace it. I'd recommend LG or VIZIO if you want something that lasts for many years. 43" to 55" are usually not very expensive. 4k is the most you may need. Don't fall for the 8k marketing nonsense that nothing uses anyway.

I wouldn't recommend Hisense, TCL, or Insignia TVs.

I’m experiencing that now on my 2003 Toshiba TV I’m losing color and when I turn it on it flashes for like 4 seconds I don’t know how much longer it can hold out but not many people fix old TVs so I’m gonna have to buy a very expensive 4K high definition flat screen and put it on my wall and that’s gonna cost me some money 💰

@DryGermanGuy well I want have a good TV for football games mostly and I’ve seen them at Best Buy. They look so real like you’re looking at somebody in person. You can see the wrinkles on their face. what would you recommend?

Just buy „regular“ HD (1080p) equipment across the board. I would bet your tv channels don’t even broadcast in 4K or they would have to pay you extra for it.

I’m gonna take a picture of everything soon for you and ask you what you recommend to remove everything or just put the TV above it on the wall or just haul everything out of here including the entertainment system but it’s a lot of trouble for me because I’m rehabbing right now and I don’t wanna have to move all this stuff by myself into my pick up truck so I’m gonna have to pay somebody to take it completely away

@DryGermanGuy Most TV's sold in the US these days are 4k so there's Unless you opt for a small (32" and smaller) size, it's very difficult to find an HD TV

@Iron_Man Really sorry to hear that, it's sad when a CRT starts to fail since they are no longer produced and extremely useful for retro gaming. Actually 4k TV's aren't too expensive, I paid $180 for my 55" TCL TV that's 4K and couldn't be happier. Just have to look around for sales, even without sales 4K TV's can be had under $300.

If you play old console video games, it may be worth getting that CRT TV repaired because the old games function and look better on that than they do on modern HDTVs.

@llorando lately I’ve been losing my color for about a couple minutes and it comes back. I don’t know if it’s on its way out or not. but when I turn the TV on it, flashes for like five seconds for nine months now.

If you're losing color and it comes back, then likely it's a motherboard and not picture tube issues. Likely bad chip or capacitor.

They said they’re having difficulties repairing these kind of TVs because it’s hard to find parts, but it lasted a long time but we’ll see how long it last because I don’t wanna have to buy an 85 inch 4K high definition TV that’s gonna cost me a lot of money even though it would be really nice for Super Bowls

There's probably something in your manual or a manual you can download for your model that tells you how to do a hard reset to factory settings. That would be my first move. Assuming you can at least turn it on.

First, I would turn it off, check all cables, and turn it back on. If that doesn't fix it, I buy a new one, probably larger diagonal measurement with more functions.

Replace it. There's not much on these that uou can fix that will cost less than a new TV. You'll be amazed what $300 gets you now

Buy a new TV , it appears that the board that regulates color is going bad. It could be the picture tube going bad.

I'd attempt to repair it myself and if I couldn't I'd just go buy a new one. TV's are so cheap these days it'd most likely cost more to repair the TV then it would to replace it.

I would unplug it, leave it for a minute, plug it back in, and restart it. If that didn't help, I would get it repaired.
