The rise of Artificial Intelligence will increase productivity by a great deal. Instead of everyone getting the benefits of having machines do a lot of their work , there will be massive layoffs while the few CEOs and business owners will become wealthier and will be able to afford an even bigger yacht.

The term is misleading. AI is not intelligent. It is not perceptive, creative, ingenious, imaginative. It has no thoughts or feelings.

It can be trained to do certain tasks.
Using it to search for information is the same as googling at hyperspeed. In some cases, that is helpful. In other cases, it is unhelpful because it merely combs the internet and regurgitates programmed narratives.

It is used to monitor, analyze, report and store information on people without their knowledge or consent.

AI is sold as a natural step forward in human development. But I see the likelihood, nay, certainty, of a dystopian nightmare. It will be used by psychopaths to enslave humanity.

And datacenters are an environmental disaster.

AI makes it easy to replace some workers, particularly in entry level jobs. AI imparts a false aura of reliability in anything that it generates. AI can be used to infringe upon the likeness and voice of anyone, creating photos or videos that appear to be genuine. AI has the potential to make humans lazy.

Students are copying and pasting what they find from artificial intelligence instead of putting the sources that artificial intelligence has found in their own words. They are letting AI write their papers for them which is very bad and I forsee a generation of less critical thinkers.

Some people rely on AI to help them with their work without verifying and validating AI results. That is bad, and a reason to dislike AI.

There have been several cases, throughout the US, where lawyers filed documents with courts that contained bogus information. Some have been held in contempt, some have been disbarred.

I don't like the way it currently operates, which is to scrape data from reddit and regurgitate it on demand. I also don't like most of the things it's used for, surveillance and control, gouging consumers and so forth.
