Okay lets get one thing straight I do not dislike flying because of fear of a plane crashing because statistically speaking your actually more likely to die and crash in a car accident. However there are so many other valid reasons why flying sucks. This is including even the better Airlines the US has to offer. So let's take a look of all the terrible aspects of flying and the airports. Sorry if this turns more into a rant but this is how much I despise it.
Expensive food & items at the airports

Okay so lets start off with how expensive not only the food at airports are, but any items you want to buy in there. Okay so I always wondered why everything at the Airports costs so much more and this even includes if you fly internationally in other countries. It seems no matter where you go they price gouge everything. So one day I became very curious and decided to do research myself on why everything at the Airports costs so much. With the obvious reason of capitalism and because you have fewer choices the other big reason is because retailers have to pay a lot more money to rent out spaces inside the airport forcing them to charge us the customers more money to make up for their own lost revenue. Operational challenges also play a big role meaning getting food through airport security costs more money, as does frequent deliveries add to costs. Lastly there are limited vendors who are willing to deliver items to airports. I once went to Turkey in 2012 inside a McDonald’s airport and it costed me $21 just for one fish sandwich and a small drink.
· TSA security

Okay lets get to the fun bulk of the issue. Literally nobody ever says this “hey I think TSA does a fine job and I love airport security.” I defy you to find one single person who likes the TSA. Okay I am sure anyone who is anyone who has flown before has at least one scary or just bad encounter with TSA. First off you have to read their guidelines cause not every airport is exactly the same. They have requirements for even certain travel items such as toothbrushes,. Shaving ,items nail clippers, etc. Anything you can think of. Just the whole process is annoying. Don’t get me wrong some of it makes sense, but its still such a drag to go through. You have to grab multiple items even if you travel light. For example you need to put a separate bin for your shoes, and separate bin for your electronics such as laptops, Ipad, etc. Then go through that whole X-ray scan. And possibly even run through a patted search where they can feel you up if you randomly get selected. And really its just their attitude too. Most of them look miserable and will yell at you for the stupidest reasons. I once had a TSA lady holler at me just because I misheard her and I asked her if she could repeat what she asked of me. When she did she yelled “the car keys” have to go to a separate bin.
· Flight delays and cancellations

Okay now of course here is another major thing that can happen. Your flight can get cancelled or worse yet delayed. I think delay personally is even worse but that’s a rant for another time. There is nothing more frustrating than being stuck at the airport and having your flight delayed. You can just be waiting there for hours and hours. And then its not always due to weather delay, sometimes the pilot is just late or they change terminals. What’s worse is how the airline attendants at the gates wont’ even tell you the actual reason for the delay all the time or they will lie and say it should presume normally any time. Then there is the slight chance of the whole flight being cancelled. This is not always as bad as in certain situations they might pay for your hotel but it’s still such an inconvenience.
· Gates being changed

Which brings us to the next point. Your gate number can constantly change, and they don’t always update it on the big screens inside the airports. So you have to check on the website entering your flight number to see where your gate number changed to. And then not to mention how long and big most airports are. Just having to walk up to find your Gate letter and number can take so long. And the bigger airports require you to take a shuttle bus to your correct Gate letter terminal.
· Tickets being changed
Although this personally hasn’t happened to me a lot it has happened a few times. In retrospect thise often did happen at times when I booked the flight through a 3rd party instead of directly from the airlines i.e cheap o Air.com, expedia, etc. You can still experience glitch issues booking directly from the website and then having to end up in a long customer service line at the Airport. This happened to me once and it took about 2 hours for my turn to come up. So even though I booked through a 3rd party that day I know a bunch of other people were having issues as well. While I was waiting in line I asked one of the other strangers how they booked and they said they booked directly too from American Airlines I believe it was.
· Find parking spaces

Yes I know you can just get a Uber or Lyft these days or if your luck enough just have someone drive you to the airport and when comeback pick you back up. However those optiosn aren’t always there and Uber has its own inconveniences. And even if you live in a city that’s semi big like 100,000 people living there it can still be hard to find a parking spot in short term parking and long term parking. Now the key issue I have with this is that its easy to find parking when your far away from the actual airport but to find a good parking spot where you don’t have to walk that long to the airport that’s hard.
· Conclusion
So my point is that there is just so much that could go wrong and I have never had a flight where everything went completely right. I’ve flown a decent amount of times as well. Now there are other issues about flying that are so annoying. However I am not going to make a whole list for these other problems as well. As nobody wants to read a novel. Here is just a list of other things that really grinds my gears. Allowing alcohol at airports has got to be one of the stupidest ideas. That’s how must of these fights you see go viral at airlines or inside the plane begin. The passenger or potential passenger has too much to drink. Also I have never witnessed this in person but seeing all these viral fights at airports or inside the plane just gives me anxiety. Like I don’t want to risk having to run into one of these people at some point. Is there anything else that I missed that grinds your gears about flying?
