Lake house
Beach house
Why can't I have both?
I don't want a house by the water

A beach house would be more upkeep due to the salt and possible dangerous storms, but gosh I would love to hear the waves crashing every morning. Lake houses are beautiful though, and there is a certain kind of peace when you're on a lake because it's so quiet. That's a hard choice, but I have to go with Beach house just because the sound of the water and looking out at the horizon would be better perks to me
They're both relaxing and stimulating for different reasons. A lake house is quieter. A beach house has the roar of the surf and a long line of beach to comb. Lake house has to be more self contained... You can fish, birdwatch... Not roam as much... Each works in its own way.
That's tough. I've been to both. Lake house has a more summer vacation vibe to it, with the lake and all. While Beach House has a more relaxed day to day style vibe to it. Just as relaxing. I'll lean towards Beach House, because being closer to the beach means closer to everything else usually. For Lake Houses you're pretty much just on the Lake and have to make a trek to do anything in town.
Both. Live in one and rent out the other during the prime season to make a lot of money on. Or buy both and rent out both. Or just live in both split it half a year each without rentimg either out.

1) not tidal so no need to walk long distances depending on time of year/month
2) salt is more damaging on skin and burns your mouth/nose if you accidentally swallo some.
3) water is warmer towards the surface and water changes temperature faster the smaller the quantity meaning a fairly shallow lake is more likely to be warmer at a given point in the summer than the beach.
Lastly there's soil to plant things and place proper furniture that won't sink or become damaged by the end of the day.
Honestly not bothered ethier. both have great benfits of course. Like beach house near dounuts shops and rock well that's just yum nevermind the actaul beach.
lake house nice and quite, peaceful, Wildlife idea place for settling.
actaul yeah i am gonna pick lake just cause it is better for a long investment. I imagine beach house ain't exactly a settling down place well could be but i guess i see lake house as more as one.
where as beach house is more for vaction.
Beach. Crocodiles live in the lake and they grow really big and then you have to entice them out with a cow and use a really big gun to kill them 🐮🔫😱
This might have been a movie that I've seen... 🤔
If a beach is nice enough, it will become over-commercialised sooner or later.
So, a relatively remote lake-side looks more attractive to me.
Where STILL I'd prefer a place at a river... which is high enough to be safe from flooding.
I live in England so if you live next to a lake you're looking out at a shopping trolley that's been abandoned in the lake bobbing up and down and if you live next to a beach you're looking at a condom bobbing up and down on the beach. So it's pretty much 50/50.
A lake house seems more calming and beautiful, a couple of ducks here and there would be nice too 🤣🤣. also sometimes i really can't stand the sound of waves hitting each other, it's weird but that sound sometimes drive me crazy. I prefer total silence.
I want to see the scenery but i just can't live next to the water. The ocean will swallow your shit someday 😂 but at least it doesn't give creepy vibes like lakes do. Just think of Jason waiting at night
Rather stay away from waters and just get a pool :p
I'd prefer to know what I'm swimming in. And not let the weather choose my homes safety lol mother nature isn't nice as the population destroys her
Neither one. To close to water for flooding. I rather higher ground away from water.
This is not centuries past where water was hard to come by. We have pipes and pumps now.
So no need to live that close no more
Beach house, but only if it’s in an area that’s not crowded AF. Most beach houses are crammed together like this:
Our parents have both, which are equally as nice, but just worry about a tsunami when at the beach house, so if only had one, my choice would be the lake front :)
I love the ocean but hate the beach I grew up surfing during the summer me and my homeys use to hitch hike and jump on the back of buses whatever it took to get to the beach but I hate the sand so I choose the lake plus I love all the trees
Probably a beach house... although the salt water destroys balcony railings, house appliances and cars which would be annoying but a lake house has a higher chance of mosquitoes which I hate
I hate to split hairs here, but couldn't a lake house technically be a beach house and vice-versa? And also yes, I do realize how annoying this is.
Fresh water > salt water
Does "the beach" only exist where ocean meets land? Or can lakes have beaches too?
Hope this clears things up 😳
Lake house. Much less likely to be destroyed by a big wave and I dint have to worry about salt rusting my cars
Lake house for sure. Less worry of hurricanes, no sharks or jellyfish to worry about, plus...

Lake, but it has to be in the mountains. I'd forego being anywhere close to water for land in the mountains.
I would prefer a lake house.
No salt water, more privacy but still having a massive amount of water plenty for my needs.
Be nice with a house by a lake.
i chose lake house because it sounded more secluded. Beaches are to peopley and there really isn't much for me to do on a beach.
Beach House. I am scared of Water and living that close to Water
in a Lake House. I would be thinking that if that Lake water flooded
i could really be in it for a nightmare?
