Is 27 too old to start travelling?

I had the money back at uni and i never took the opportunity because i was just so nervous. I wasted my student loan and regret it so much. I am only currently learning to drive also. But i want to save and travel before I get old. I would be going solo as my friends and I have just drifted apart. I'm scared it's all going to be young 18 year olds and I will be seen as over the hill and won't fit in. Places I am looking at is Budapest, Thailand, Asia, Germany, Sweden

Not at all, I was out on my own traveling at 23, it's the perfect age, honestly you might be getting a bit too old. Naaaaah just kidding but seriously don't wait and you are not going to be the youngest person traveling by far. There are 18-19 years old traveling through Thailand, Budapest, and wherever you go it will be good to meet people your age who are not getting too old to be adventurous out there (I mean locals, but other travelers as well.)

But there are plenty of. people of all ages traveling, staying at hostels. I have met lots of people in their 30s, 40s, and even a few 50 and up here and there.

See this what I'm afraid of. Im 27 in a hostel with a bunch of 18-21 year olds and they see me as a grandma. Or people who are 35+ and they see me as a kid. Scared i won't fit in with anyone

@lilsezza101 well if you are simultaneously scared that you are too young AND too old, then I have to say it sounds like you are just plain scared and making some excuses and bad scenarios in your head.

In Thailand, you are going to see so many 20s and 30s people, it's not going to be like that. Plus, at 27 you can still hang with people in 18-25 group, you're not even that old and if anything they are going to think you are cool for being a bit older.

Thankyou, that settles me a little. I just have anxiety over it as I have never really been abroad apart from Poland for a weekend. But i really want to go travelling as I have a larger fear of being on my death bed and realising i never went anywhere haha. Budapest is my 1st option to go to as in September they have the Budafest over 5 days

Going solo is far better IMHO as well. When you bring people with you, it closes you off unfortunately. I hope you have an excellent time in Budapest! :)

No mam it is not, I am planning on traveling around the world when I am 40 myself, after taking care of my responsibilities towards my family.
So I don't think 27 is too old, there is no age to start traveling, just enjoy yourself mam and have a great trip.

Nope! I’m 27 and I’m going to New York City and live it up like Kevin Mccalister off Home Alone. I always wanted to travel further than Arkansas and Texas but never had the money. You should travel girl but with COVID going on... please wear a spacesuit.

27? 67 isn't too old to start traveling. There are all sorts of tours for various activities, or you can travel solo. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money, but please don't go "beg-packing".

Backpacking is great, and it can be quite inexpensive.

Beg-packing means traveling to some country (usually Asian) without enough money to support yourself, then begging for money from the local people. Don't do this.

Wouldn't dream of it. I would maybe try and find work while in other countries. Or volunteer as exchange for accommodation (i. e woofing organisations)

Never too old. My mom didn't start traveling until she was around 37.
