Why do some people take photos of everyday objects when they travel?

I see a lot of Instagram accounts of travelers, who photograph stairs, walls, or telephone poles in the places they travel. My question is, why? If you're traveling to a beautiful place, why not photograph the people and scenery instead of mundane commonplace objects?
