Basically, are you more afraid of getting poisoned or mauled?

North America probably has overall more dangerous wildlife Australia might have more dangerous things in regards to poisonous insects.
But North America when it comes to general wild life is far more dangerous, think about it.
Wolves, coyotes
Grizzly, black and brown bears
Deer which don't sound particular dangerous until you start reading up on all the stories of them cutting people apart and decapitating people with their hooves which apparently are as sharp enough to cut straight through bone. And when they feel threatened they'll get up on their hind legs and start thrashing them around. And they'll do the same thing on the ground if they get hit by cars.
Moose's they don't seem dangerous but they actually kill and injury quite a few people every year. Not only are they capable fighting toe to toe with bears but are quit fast and can swim underwater like we can and are pretty aggressive apparently and also absolutely massive in size.
Green and black poison dart frog just a tiny amount of their poison will stop a adult mans heart in minutes or less.
Water Moccasins, rattle snakes, coral snake I don't even need to tell you how scary it is to hear that rattle in the bushes and not know where the hell that thing is or have a water moccasin chase you through the water with the intent of wrapping around you and dragging you under the water.
Alligators, Crocodiles
Bison
Africanized Bees
Cougars
Polar bears
To name a few of the very dangerous wild life in North America
We could even break even and say Australia has the scarier smaller wildlife when it comes to poisonous snakes, spiders, jelly fish and stuff like that.
While North America has the scarier larger wildlife like coyotes, wolves, bears, gators, crocodiles, cougars, etc.
I think that'd be fair as lets be honest there's pretty terrifying creatures in both places.
And likewise we each find out own areas wildlife more or less not that frightening.
Australians may react to their dangerous wildlife the same way I react to coyote packs when I'm walking around at night. Meh.
Funny thing is that when I was back in the states and told people I was moving to Australia, they all told me how they'd be afraid to visit Australia because of brown snakes and funnel web spiders. When I got to Australia, Australians told me that they'd be so afraid to visit the US because of all the bears and cougars.8
1. Wolves - These are actually quite friendly, it's why we have dogs today.
2. Coyotes - Also friendly
3. Grizzly (Brown) bears - if you wave at them, they wave back, they mostly eat fish and berries.
4. Black bears - generally are afraid of humans, and housecats.
5. Deer - only dangerous in rutting season, otherwise friendly, same for the moose and elk here as well.
6. Alligators - too slow on land to catch you, will happily watch golfers and are generally not agressive on land.
7. Crocodiles - small enough to not really be a threat, saltwater crocs in Austraila are MUCH bigger, these are more like smaller versions of Aistraila's freshwater crocs.
8. Bison - Almost extinct in the wild, not really a threat, used as livestock often, no worse than cows.
9. Africanized Bees - Rare and not as dangerous as people made them out to be because we don't have honey badgers here to put them on edge.
10. Cougars - too reclusive to interact with people much, some have been made into pets.
11. Polar bears - Lives in the arctic, not many humans there, typically prefers seals and whale carcasses
12. Water Moccasins - They are roughly rattlesnake sized, they cannot drag you under the water, too small. People tend to get bit by them when stepping too close to them in dry leaflitter. We do have pythons and anacondas that CAN drag you under water though.
13. Rattlesnakes - They give plenty of warning before striking and prefer areas far from people.
14. Coral snakes - Fairly calm, takes a lot to piss one off, do not piss it off though.
15. Green and black poison dart frog - These are in South America
I've personally worked with wildlife, Everything I said was true.
gotta go with Australia on this one. It's a lot easier to avoid the larger animals of North America than it is to avoid the creepy crawly things of Australia. You won't find a bear, wolf or mountain lion inside your shoe in the morning or hiding under a towel in your bathroom, but you just might find one of those poisonous Aussie snakes or spiders waiting to surprise you.
But if faced with a one-on-one confrontation, I would much rather have to fight off a snake or spider, than a grizzly bear or mountain lion.
@Nikki1989 u must live in a good spot to avoid them then. Just like people living in New York aren't very likely to run into a grizzly bear. 😁
@Nikki1989 by any chance, do you work for the Australian tourism industry? You're trying awfully hard on this post to make it seem like Australian animals aren't so bad. I've seen the Huntsman that used to hide in one of my friend's cars, and that would make me pee a little. 🤣 We can both be right, when it comes to what's scarier to us, because different things scare different people differently, and there's nothing wrong with that.
@Nikki1989 they are the stuff nightmares are made of.
I think I would be more scared of getting mauled. Being poisoned seems like a slower death and you may still have time to act. If you're being attacked, it's immediate and there's no way to stop it.
Although, a lot of the dangerous Australian wildlife likes to hide in places that I might go (eg. shoes, in toilets, under furniture) - so I think I would be more scared of Australia!
More scared of Australia because snaked and spiders may pop up indoors. The American animals are likely more of an outdoor issue

the sound of gunshots ain't deterring a snake or spider
Australia by far. There are things that can kill you, just by putting your shoes on over there. lol
It is North America, obviously, and this is coming from someone that has lived in both countries.
Definitely Australia. Forget the big animals, they have some scary and deadly insects & snakes over there that will totally kill you. Size doesn't matter when you have deadly venom.
Because I'm more use to the US dangers I would be much more afraid of the Australian creachers.
Australia... have you seen spider season over there😣😣
How is this even a question, obviously Australia is scarier.
USA I live in Australia but Grizzly Bears. Rattle Snakes no thanks I prefer Australia
Australia. What the hell thought it was ok to evolve into a platypus?
Drop bears. That’s all I’m saying. 🫣🫣🫣
Australia hands down.
