Why does weight and muscle ratios vary depending on where you go vacation?

I went to an all inclusive hotel in Cuba in 11 years ago with my cousin half an hour from my house, and everybody at the hotel was skinny and the girls all looked like fashion models.

I went to an all inclusive hotel this January and over 40% of the adults at the hotel were obese or morbidly obese and nearly all the thin and fit guests were under the age of 20.

It's weird cause I would visit one tourist island and everybody would weigh at least 200 pounds and then I'd fly to another country and everybody would weigh under 160 if they were male or 140 if they were female, and they would also look fairly wealthy too.

I have a theory on why some of these people are skinny, or others bigger, but I have not pooled enough data to know whether it's correct or not.

Cuba isn't westernized and they're not flush with shitty food like we are. Hence, they don't have obesity problems. All people have to do is stop stress eating or comfort eating or whatever and stop working ridiculously long hours for crappy pay.

But nooooooppppppeeee. Americans work work work, and they're not getting anything done. All that money, and they can't enjoy it.
