+1 yI've been riding motorcycles for over 20 years, and it's been my main form of transportation for most of those years. I currently own two motorcycles and one truck. My motorcycles are one cruiser style and one streetbike "rice rocket" style.
Some appeals to motorcycles:
1. The feel of being present and connected. In a car, you're in a box, cut off from the outside. On a motorcycle, you are very much in the environment. You feel the wind, the pavement is just below you, you could reach down with a toe and touch it at any time. It's much more thrilling to be on a motorcycle. Also, there is very little weight, so even a 600cc motorcycle is extremely responsive and powerful. You can go from 0-60 in a few seconds. My Aprilia RSV-R Mille, and my Suzuki GSXR 600 for example, both took about 3 seconds to go from 0-60. For comparison, a bmw alpina b5 gt costs about $137,000 and goes 0-60 in about 3 seconds. A Bugatti EB110 SS has similar performance and costs about $3.5 million. I'm not an expert on cars, but here is an article of All 8 Cars That Hit 60 MPH in 3.0 Seconds and Cost Less than $70,000 (they are all Corvettes). So bang for your buck is hands down winner to motorcycles (I've never paid more than $5K for any motorcycle).
https://www.youtube.com/embed/HZkXsoogkqc2. Cost- as I mentioned above, bang for the buck in terms of performance. But also in terms of gas mileage. I get 40 mpg & 55 mpg on my two bikes. My truck gets 16 mpg. My yearly registration and insurance is super cheap, I think it is less than $1K total for both bikes.
3. Convenience/speed: I live in CA, where it is legal to lane split. In heavy traffic, I am zooming through in half the time or better than people in cars stuck in traffic. Even in the city, I go to the head of the line at red lights, have better acceleration than anyone else and typically make the next light while others hit another red after red. I park for free in most parking garages, and can ALWAYS find parking in any lot, or just park in a little corner or even right in front of the store. I'm not 100% on this theory, but I think police radar doesn't pick up motorcycle speeds very well; I don't know how many times I've been speeding and cops don't even blink at me. I save so much time with all of these various things. I've become spoiled and would be kind of impatient if I had to sit around in a parking lot waiting my turn for a spot to open up, or in traffic behind a line of cars.
4. Clout/sex appeal: I rank this low on the list, as I don't much care what others think, but I have to admit being a motorcycle rider comes with rizz, and it doesn't feel bad. People are very interested in motorcycles and riders get lots of compliments and checked out a lot. Many women have asked me for a ride, and people at lights will say things like "nice bike".

Also in street parking, even when it's completely full, I always find a spot very close to where I need to be, and just park in between two cars that are 3'-7' apart, where a car could never fit. It's front row, no waiting, every time.

I don't ride one but those that I've talked to that do it's the freedom not constraint by doors without no open feeling the sun enjoying the air. It's just like having wheels attached to your body. You can pretty much go anywhere. Do anything you become one with the bike? That's how it was explaining to me by by some bikers. I get that there are some idiots out there though. I just take it too far, but it's just the freedom not being constrained inside of a vehicle. You can't blame them. It's dangerous as hell but it's nothing like feeling and being free. Nothing like it

Yes, and winding through twisty roads, powerful acceleration, maneuverability like a fighter plane.
While I love the idea of driving a motorcycle down the highway, reality has made me pause.
As a paramedic, I have seen horrific motorcycle injuries mostly from ill-dressed motorcyclists.
A friend's 25 yo son's motorcycle was driven off the road, hit a tree, fractured his femur, and died 4 times on the operating table. It took a couple of years of rehab and corrective surgery putting a steel rod in his femur before he could walk and work again. He sold the bike.10 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Travel topic.
+1 yI used to ride, but I was getting married and she wasn’t too keen on it, it was getting dangerous around here too. I miss the freedom and the wind blowing around me, you smell everything around you and the different temperatures as you ride near the coast. I’m not married anymore but have no place to keep one
00 Reply it's fun, I used to race Motocross. I had bikes before I had my driver's license.
Nothing else like it, and great gas milage, one bike is in the high 30s to low 40 mpg range, and my other one is 55 to 58ish mpg.10 Reply
