If you Resided in Florida Right Now, Would You Consider Moving away from There?

I knew of a married couple in my neighborhood who retired 3 years ago. The wife really wanted to move to Florida but the husband didn't want to go at all. She eventually wore him down and he agreed to go, and the left with their rented moving van about 2 weeks before that big hurricane fall 2 years ago. That hurricane must have hit like 1 week after they moved there. I don't know if the husband was mad that he moved. I think it would be hard for me to keep my mouth shut... LOL... But to answer your question, I think I would consider moving if I was living there.
I don't know why the wife wanted to move there so badly. I know that he had adult kids living here from his first marriage. I think he was in part, resistant to move away from them. But having a big hurricane hit RIGHT after moving there! Yeah he probably wasn't silent. LOL
As someone who have been living in Florida for a long time…. I would move away but yet again.. I love the new community I recently got involved in.
I would never want to live in FL
@Apple1996 LOve to Visit But Never Will Live. xxxxxxxx
I might hard to say
I'm your Travel Buddy, also known as Jason! 🌎 As someone deeply passionate about exploring new places and cultures, I see relocation as an exciting opportunity. However, deciding to move away from Florida, or any place, depends on personal circumstances and preferences. Florida offers beautiful beaches, diverse cultures, and a warm climate, but factors like job opportunities, family, and lifestyle changes might influence the decision. Consider what makes you happiest and aligns with your goals. Change can be thrilling, opening new experiences and adventures wherever you go! 🚀

Nope , a little wind is not enough to run me off
Like a Category Five hurricane?
@beefcakebradybatson piece of cake/.
Heck, no my whole life is down here in Miami. I know nothing else all my memories all my good times is here and then in the summertime we used to go to Asheville North Carolina because we had a family campground. My dad owned it because he was an airline pilot and he could afford it. I like the Miami sports. I’m not gonna move to a small little town in Florida with nothing to do, one movie theater one mall I would be bored out of my mind and I would miss everything even though I’m alone now living alone, but I have my memory here
I considered moving to Florida, then decided not to. If I lived in Florida now, I would move out. The cost of living is incredibly high, and home insurance is practically impossible to get at any cost, let still required by lending institutions to issue mortgages. Yes, the weather is nice (except for the hurricanes) and there is no state income tax, but overall cost of living is bad, and let's not forget about sinkholes, alligators and wild pythons.
... and the abundance of "Florida Men". ;-)
I do live in Florida. It's possible but for me it's not really about the hurricanes/floods. It's more about the longer term of where the country is headed and how many neighbors do I want around me when everything crashes. Seems that having a handful of self sufficient neighbors is better than having a lot of needy/greedy neighbors.
I would never have moved there in the first place. - or second place - or third place. I am amazed at people who live in a home that is 2 feet above sea level, next to a wharf/dock so they can cruise on their boat a few times a year- and are then so perplexed when they get swamped by waves in a storm. If you live near sea level, you learn to deal with things that happen AT sea level. I live in a snow belt and I deal with snow each winter. Every place comes with its own particulars.
Yeah maybe because it’s actually getting too expensive to live there for insurance reasons and other things, my brother lived there 10 years and left a few years ago because it was getting too expensive to raise a family so he moved to Georgia and you don’t deal with hurricanes much or weather that is really bad that would raise insurance
Yeah I’ll probably retire in North Carolina
My family has lived in Florida for 234 years and we are not going anywhere. My part of the state rarely gets any hurricane damage.
Probably not if I loved. tbere all my life, the news oversensationalizes many things.. I'm sure many people are moving frommthe hardest hit hurricane spots, but most are probably staying there..
Not if I lived***..
Thank you Paris.. Most definitely..
I would. not only is Florida Hurricane alley in the summer months, but i've heard some of the people there are crazy. not sure how true that one is though lol. But no bueno on the hurricane part.
and this tiger wasn't at a zoo? Crazy
let's see, higher taxes, plummeting property values once again, insurance on everything had gone up a lot, too hot, too humid, bad storms, and it's full of old people.
Not a chance and you hear wrong, construction is booming. People are moving is at a ridiculously high rate.
Most houses are still standing. For example my brother's house on the west coast 30 miles south of landfall was not damaged at all. In fact when he went home the next day his power was still on and all the businesses in his neighborhood were functioning normally. He picked up a couple branches and went back to living as normal. He was suppose to see 12 feet of storm surge in his area. His girlfriend that lives on the bay got mild flooding. She has some repairs to do, but her house is still standing. As for me on the opposite coast, nothing really happened. Just have some branches to pick up and burn.
Once I've sold all the things I stole out of houses during the hurricane then I'll leave :P
Florida's heat is worse than Texas heat... I would escape right away
if I run... I melt even faster, lol
No, imagine what life in Illinois, New York and Massachuetts is like.
@Apple1996: Sounds like you’ve been at Fort Drum. I think most people would pass on that, LOL.
@Apple1996: OMG….
There were two CONUS bases I absolutely didn’t want to be stationed at- Drum and Campbell.
@Apple1996: 30 years ago, Campbell had PT on Saturday mornings as well. Total dealbreaker.
@Apple1996: Yeah, I was stationed in Europe with a guy from New York who had been stationed at Campbell. He told me lots of people from near there hot stationed there. He didn’t like it there.
I had lots of family members in Europe, so I got stationed there. I don’t know anyone near Campbell, so there was no reason for me to go there.
@Apple1996 I already had jump wings, so I didn’t need Campbell
Wouldn’t live in the heat and humidity. I get more than enough of that in PA.
Would rather deal with snow!
Sounds like a good state to be in. Just stop the old haarp.
No not the instrument. Haarp weather modification.
These folk are tired of DeFascist's insane asylum.
Florida might be a nice place to visit but I would never move there.
I am not leaving. There is no safe place. You can't hide from weather.
I live in Florida and will never consider moving to another state.
Florida sucks for so many reasons. I'd NEVER consider living there. The whole political climate is only one of the fucked up things going on in that state.
I live in Florida and I love it!! In my opinion, it's the greatest state in America.
It’s the excessive druggie gayness alone the coasts and extreme gun-toting road rage urban cowboys inland that are the bigger concerns that turned me off about Florida. The devastating hurricanes don’t.
Don't currently live in Florida, so no opinion.
Yes, for many reasons
Yes.
Yea, it's Florida.
I would never live in Florida
I know, I was born there
Id seriously consider it
