Are people in the US North and West Coast much nicer and friendlier than US Southerners?

People in the US South, particularly the Caucasians, tend to be grumpy, cantankerous and not too friendly.

People in New York City, Massachusetts and California by comparison, are always smiling and will talk to you.

Though the friendliest and nicest people in America are Midwesterners.

I find this to be the opposite. Southern hospitality is a thing for a reason. I have random people waving at me in cars just to be nice.

I've been to New York on many occasions and people there are far more rude and tend to keep to themselves more. There's also no yes ma'am or yes sir, even from young people. It's just yeah or no. In the south everybody says yes sir or yes ma'am. Any store you shop at people will tell you to have a good day or blessed day Everytime you leave.

Absolutely not I grew up down south and going to college up north.

Plus, talk about racism, down south there is black and white. Up north Jews, Mid East Indians, so many racists comments
