I've seen so much debating on this site about this lately, so I wanted to post about how I feel. I like feminism. I don't hate it. I even like the radical sides because I think that they can be interesting. I KNOW lots of people hate it, or they feel like it imposes on them. But I love how many different aspects feminism can have, so if I called myself a feminist I wouldn't just say I was one in a particular way or context.

I think that's really annoying to have to say because, I can just say what I want. And I feel like feminists have the right to say what they want. I know people may comment on this, and give examples of how that's bad. Or they might say that feminism is hypocritical because it talks about equality but mostly focuses on women. Or even that feminism can be really illogical since there can be so many contradictions. I've seen that too but...
It is free speech. I feel like feminism can help me, since I'm female! I don't want to just give up on any benefits by saying I'm part of Men's Rights or (I think it's called) the Egalitarian side. I want to say what I want, just like how those groups do! I don't like having to rationalize things to appease people. I feel like when you have so many different sides to choose from it can be really cool.
So if you hate on feminism that's fine by me, as long as you don't say anything bad to me face to face. This is why I won't say directly online whether I think I'm a feminist or not, because I know that IRL I can express myself and not have to worry about hate, usually. I feel like no group is ever perfect, and if this group can help me then I like it.
Some people might even say this is a selfish perspective but IRL, no one helps you with anything! You have to do things yourself. Family or even friends may help, but strangers, which make up 99% of the people you'll meet, do not care. So if feminism can help me in the real world then I'll stick with it.
