She's free to do as she pleases. I don't like the word feminism it speaks of divide where there should be none.
Honestly, feminism scares me. Modern day feminism is much different then woman back in the day fighting for the right to vote. Feminism in modern day is hatred towards men and I don't like it..
Is it me or does she look a little masculine from the neck up the way that Justin Bieber looks a little feminine?
So she has to be a prude about nudity in order to stand for equality? This shoot isn't sexual at all in my opinion so I don't see it as hypocritical.
she literally bashed beyonce for being topless.
@applesandoranges22 I don't think that was right of her, but I think this shoot is demure enough that it's not necessarily hypocritical. That's just my opinion though.
ok look at it like this. She bashes beyonce for showing boobies, then she shows boobies. Thats like someone saying hey! dont drink coffee! then they drink coffee. Hypocritical
@applesandoranges22 The way I understood it, she was criticizing oversexualization of women, not nudity specifically. Which still wasn't necessarily right, but I see the two differently.
apparently in a feminists logic ( not directed at you) sexulization is different than objectification when the textbook definition states they are linked with eachother. They can be interchanged at any point. The problem people had is with a man doing it, as objectifying in feminism claims it is without her consent to portray her as a sexual object when she is equally responsible for portraying herself in that light. Either way, she went on a rant about how women are objectified as sexual objects and how media portrays them as such, and she not only posed on that cover, but she had a scene where she was semi naked in a movie. she is a clear cut hypocrite
@applesandoranges22 Nudity and sexualization are not the same thing (do you think of sex when a toddler is running around naked?). I don't think she ever meant to argue that all nudity is inherently antifeminist. But that's just my take on it.
no I do see where you are coming from with the nudity thing but we are talking about emma watson and her contradiction. , she specifically portrayed breasts as a sexual object when she bashed beyonce for it then did the same. Its clear what her opinion on breasts are because she was outspoken about it. So I am almost certain that that cover photo is what I think
@applesandoranges22 I still think what she did was much more subtle and less overtly sexual, but I suppose that's a matter of opinion.
even if it was, it was still show cased in a obvious manner, and unless she was drugged and put there against her will she knew what she was doing and signed up for the same thing she so called hates
@applesandoranges22 I still think it's osubtle than that, but yes, I suppose she should have expected her behavior to be interpreted this way.
Part of me screams out that I should care about this but I don't. The only things i thought were that the hairstyle doesn't suit her and i wish I had boobs that small.
Your question makes it sound like as if feminists aren't hypocrites by default.
Meh... just another untalented actress trying to stay relevant. And I think she was a poor choice to play Belle.
Emma watson is a celeb thats struggling to stay relevant. She became a feminist as a way to remain relevant. she's like shia lebouff getting all political of lately.
That's what feminists do. Welcome to 3rd wave feminism.
Plus, that ridiculous movement has overstayed it's welcome. It was never meant to be taken seriously, I feel sorry for those who honestly take it seriously.
I'm failing to see the problem. Why is exposing your body bad?
Feminists tend to agree on the big issues, but the more nitpicky stuff people vary. It's the same for any movement.

What is wrong with a woman using her sexuality to promote herself? Use the assets you have.
Yeah nothing wrong.
Emma bashed Beyonce for doing the same and she's doing it now. Do you think that is hypocrisy?
@Imhotep99 It does appear to be rather hypocritical, doesn't it. Of course, it is human nature to hold others to higher standards than we set for ourselves. A conscientious soul always fights that tendency, especially in relationships.
@Imhotep99 This shoot isn't overly sexual though. To me that's the biggest reason why she's not necessarily being hypocritical. Not all nudity is sexual, and she bashed oversexualization, not nudity itself.
@samhradh_leannan Alright. That's your perspective. And your perspective depends on your own definition of "sexual" and "nudity".
@Imhotep99 It's a fact that nudity isn't always sexual. That's not an opinion. Do you think of sex when you see toddlers running around naked? I hope not.
@samhradh_leannan No, and Emma is an adult who is responsible for her own actions.
@Imhotep99 The doesn't mean that any time she shows a body part, it's automatically sexual.
To me, this whole blowup brings up a deeper issue. That people can't see even the demurest type of nudity without assuming that it has a sexual intention.
@samhradh_leannan And that does not mean anytime she shows a body part it ISN'T sexual.
You think it isn't. That's your perspective.
@Imhotep99 And possibly hers as well, which would make her actions much less hypocritical. I have no idea what she was actually thinking, but I'm just putting that out there. It's a possibility.
@samhradh_leannan The hypocrisy lies not in her nudity but in her words.
@Imhotep99 As sr as I can tell, her words had more to do with sexualized nudity than nudity in general. Which is why I'm making this point.
@samhradh_leannan
OlderAndWiser- Of course, it is human nature to hold others to higher standards than we set for ourselves.
She is rich and have money so the rules don't apply to her.
People are still talking about feminism and Emma Watson? My God this issue is so old and so over talked about. It's not even important.
Guys hit UPVOTE if you guys just came here to look at beautiful pictures of
"EMMA WATSON".
Spanking bank is now full lol.
Emma Wastson like most celebrities is a complete joke and talking about stuff she knows nothing about.
Emma Watson is the perfect representation of feminism. Hypocrisy, man-hating and demands for special treatment. Gotta love her.
I never listen to a feminist who isn't hot and she isn't hot anymore.
everyone knows u can't be a real feminist unless u show your tits. -.- really hard to f*cking blame everything on men when you as a woman, continue to CHOOSE to use your body to get attention like that.
