In New York City a Lesbian couple in their mid 20s were kicked out of a Uber drivers car for kissing.
"We got over the Manhattan Bridge into the city. We were sitting on opposite sides of the back seat. At one point we leaned over and pecked kiss, very fast"

Yeah, it is illegal,” the driver says. “You don’t do that here in the car … you are not allowed to do this.”One of the outraged women then questions the driver, saying, “What are you f***ing talking about? Are you sick in the head?”
“You are not allowed … it’s disrespectful … it’s disrespectful. I don’t want to argue with you. Just get off my car,” the driver says.
Ms Iovine fires back: “I want to understand — what did we do wrong? Nothing is illegal. It is not illegal to kiss in New York.”
Ms Pichl told The Post that a moment later, the driver “grabbed” her arm to get her phone out of her hand.
“Get off of her phone. Don’t f***ing touch her,” Ms Iovine is heard saying in the clip. “I’m reporting you. I’m gonna get you fired.”
After the video ended, Ms Pichl said the driver “just got back in his car and sped off. We paid for a full Uber ride. It was 22 bucks.”
According to Uber, which has a non-discrimination policy, the incident was also reported to the company by the driver.
" A driver is most definitely not allowed to do such a thing. There is a list of circumstances that are grounds for refusing service to a passenger, and what happened is most definitely not among them,” TLC spokesman Allan Fromberg said"
While I hate PDA in general, it is not "illegal". If it made him uncomfortable, he could have just kindly asked them to stop and gave them a warning instead of kicking them out entirely. I feel as though both parties aren't telling the entire truth. Unless he was staring at them the entire uber ride, he wouldn't have even been able accurately determine a "quick peck". I think they were actually kissing, however that is beside the point. People will fart in your car, people will fall asleep, people will kiss, people will be tipsy/drunk, people will be scantily-clad.. it's all part of the job. Suck it up.
Absolutely not cool, but I think I understand why, at least. I can't help but make assumptions in a case where only one side of the story is presented, but my guess is he follows a religion very closely that is strictly against same gender sexuality. This is another Chik-Fil-A incident, where one side feels their human rights are violated, and the other side feels their religious freedoms are violated. Frankly, neither of them are perfectly in the right, but ultimately I would side with the customers.
I wouldn't worry. He's gonna be boycotted outta business. He should know driving for Uber that he'll meet all kinds of people, but there's likely info that he missed when he signed up. I imagine he lost like 75% of possible customers over this. If he/Uber don't give full refund, they can be sued, not to mention most certainly over likely discrimination policies. He obviously over reacted. Also, in some countries, girls may peck each other just as a greeting and not even as lesbians, so there's grounds on that too. They didn't go all out to make out, they pecked on the lips quickly and he got VERY dramatic about it. Let's say it wasn't this case, but instead cursing on the phone a bit, but audible enough for the driver to hear. Could they do the same thing and not be fired/boycotted? NO! Both would likely happen. He's gonna have a tough life after this, that's almost a guarantee. This isn't like the cake business, as he is an employee technically, not owner. Which really, I'd love to take advantage over the cake ruling case. I'd start to discriminate against anyone with a cross on them or showing any signs of Christianity. It goes against my religion of Anti-Idolotrism. Not to mention having rainbow decor everywhere. Hell, maybe I'd discriminate against straight couples after converting to Homosexiualism. There's always a way to fight back.
Hmmm. Could it have been that the Uber driver was foreign? Maybe middle eastern? Where homosexual type things are strictly prohibited in their culture?
Is he kind of stupid for what he did? Yes, you're in New York of all places where almost anything is culturally acceptable... get over it or don't drive a taxi in New York.
Is he in the right? Maybe... because obviously the car belongs to him or he's leasing it. So therefore, its his property and even though he drives for Uber, he still works for himself so he can essentially do whatever he wants.

Dude looks like he's those very seriously religious types and get offended easily. If both chicks were hot as fuck and even quite decently good looking I'd probably get too distracted by their kissing and run the risk of getting into an accident though lol. There's no strict policy about no PDA or that driver can make special or specific rules because of his strict religious or otherwise beliefs. Even then it's still discrimination. If I were him, who gives a shit? I mean damn. You still getting paid bro, so who gives a shit? It's not like they are breaking anything in his car, jeez. He probably mad because he got turned on and distracted and got a big fucking boner and felt embarrassed by it.
Uber in this case has two different guidelines Under “Ensuring a respectful, safe environment for all drivers and riders,” there is, in fact, a section on physical contact with the driver or fellow riders of an Uber cab. It says riders shouldn’t “touch or flirt” with other people in the car, and that there’s “no sexual conduct with drivers or fellow riders.” In those same community guidelines, Uber says it has a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination of any kind, including discrimination based on sexual orientation. Therefore, they shouldn't have done it in the first place. However, he's also not behaving properly either.
I'm not a huge fan of PDA from anyone, but while he's driving for Uber, it's technically not "his" car. So if it's their policy for him to kick people out for that, then ok. But if they don't care if people do PDA during the rides then he has to suck it up, or quit driving for them.
well since uber has a non-discrimination policy then this act is violation of the driver's requirements as an employee.
i do think that heavy making out (if that is what they were doing) in the back of a hired car is inappropriate but unless the company has a policy against it then the driver can politely ask them to stop or otherwise ignore it and do his or her job
Ok, with the information given by the testimony of the two women and the video, I have decided. The two women were in their right to kiss in the car, and if the driver did not like it, it was not breaking the rules. If the rules do not state that kissing can get you removed from the current transportation, then removing the two women from the car was not justified. If the driver did not like the two women kissing in the back of the car, he can ignore it, focus on the road and get paid. In a work place environment, choosing ones own strict rules over the general rules everyone is give will only lead to disaster. I hope that driver gets what he deserves, and get fired too.
I hope the two women have learned their lesson and won't use Uber anymore; a company that has already had more scandals in its short existence than others have in a 100 years. I mean, just the idea of letting private people without a formal taxi license drive around people and make money out of this is crazy.

Seems to me to be a case of cultural differences. Uber Drivers often come from middle eastern countries. They are brought up in a culture where kissing in public (particularly between same sex couples is illegal and can result in harsh punishment- jail sentence or worse). Then, they come to western countries, where we have many freedoms. I think the company needs to give some cultural training to the Uber drivers!
That jerk does not need to pollute the Uber drive pool. He is judgmental, out of line, and hardly a professional. I suspect, after seeing him, that he may have some truly fundamental religious judgmental issues, though that is just a hunch. In any case, he has no business dealing with the public. I occasionally drive for Uber, and I am ashamed he is part of anything I am associated with. A little background on me - I am about as heterosexual a person that was ever born. But, love is a rare and beautiful thing, and if two people find it, power to them. I am not dating those people so their orientation/life choices/who they date is none of my business. Dammit, love people, don’t judge them.
Even though seeing the same sex be affectionate to a lot of people is highly uncomfortable, you can't just kick people out of the cab or store for that. Now if they tried to have sex in the cab then I would have pulled over and said nope, that's not happening you need to do that when you get home. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't mean you can act unprofessionally. You can have your own beliefs about certain things, but you still have to respect a person cause they are a person.
That and all the other incidents with Uber makes me think two things: God, I do NOT want to get a ride from Uber, like, ever. And also, with all the incidents that happened with Uber, you wonder why the fuck they don't close business for being such a discriminative, fuckturded driving company ever?

He should be fired. I drove Uber for a while. You can not kick someone out for personal beliefs. Hopefully he's taken out of the system. Only reason you can do this is if someone becomes physical with you. Fighting, etc. Then you must call the authorities to report it, plus call Uber rep immediately. Thankfully, with over 500 drives, I never had an issue.

The right to religious freedom means you have the right to go to the house of worship of your choice, to not display Christmas lights on your house even if the whole block is doing it and neighbors want you to "match".
What you DO NOT have is the right to control what someone else does. Even if you disapprove. As long as it's legal, trying to force them to conform to your belief is discrimination.
No one should make out in a stranger's car. The media just picked up on that they where lesbians and turned it into a hate crime story. This is why LGBT doesn't get taken seriously. If they can't have the same consequences as non LGBT people then they clearly aren't willing to be equal.
