The last jedi shoupd be remade minus rose and vice admiral gender studies. Luke's plot should be changed entirely
All of this retconning wouldn't any more fit in with the general established 'theme' of the movie. It's my belief that they should scrap this thing and, if it is absolutely necessary to make a Star Wars movie, make something from scratch and set it in a more distant future where all of these events are just some weird mess that no one knows the full history to any more.
Sing it brothers. Making all kinds of good sense.Dumptruck and the Giraffe are failures throughout the movies, in-character by their decisions, and out of character as actors, and they're scarily irrelevant to the ending's plot. They'd never be missed. As for the retconning, look at the Old Republic. People LOVED it. No original characters. Then the EU, the Yuzzhan Vong and later stories. Basically no original characters. People adore it.Just busting loose and creating something new would always be preferable. Even if it was Prometheus levels of shit, at least it gives new fans a leg to stand on when they're fighting for their tiny piece, the fact it's artistically original and in surplus of principle.Eh. It's a shit-show and we're all bystanders to the fecalphiliacs gayly juggling the biggest lumps with that manic grin of the lunatic whose dreams have jumped out of their heads before their stunned eyes.
We're probably done with Star Wars, all things being equal if they're committed to no longer making fun, exciting action movies.
I think a big part of it was that they were trying to sell the movie to Asian audiences which as why the had Ngô Thanh Vân kelly Marie trans in it, which they've done in other Hollywood films but Ngô Thanh Vân is a fairly heavyweight star in Asia and much liked Kelly Marie Trans is largely seen as basically a fat American woman in Asia which resulted in poor ticket sales. At least that's the theory.
I mean they do tokenize people for profits, but I don't think she's less deserving of the role by any means. Generally Asian film goers are fickle, from what I've heard about them.
People get upset no matter what. Being a white Christian blue collar working male is all it takes.
Or a transgended witch in my case lol. I supposse your right but still though you may want to bring it down a level. See i took pictures off myself like that people would freak Even If i was beautiful by the US standard because i have a penis which is very upsetting, my point is why be nasty like that?
This isn't the middle East where transgenders are thrown off high buildings. Any criticism of a transgender is hate speech and enough to get you fired while those preaching racist, sexist and hetrophobic rhetoric are praised.
Aren't they? Am on a Facebook Group for trans people from all over the place and trust me we pretty much are, a woman was fired from here Job for being trans do IT still happens. Hetrophobic? That isn't a thing just people who are trying to cause more rifts in fact i had a freind from the US and when we disagreed on a topic the first thing he did was throw my gender ID at me just too provke me.
You can be fired from your job for being transphobic. Sounds like your friend was bad at her job. Hetrophobia is a real thing.
Hetrophia is fake spreaded by straights and cis people in amptempt too diarm there homophic belives. No in fact she was netter than most people and she worked there for 12 years and only for fired because she change her name and wore female clothes 😗. Nice Try though.
I'd fire trannies cause my customers don't like that shit. Supply and demand girlfriend
Lol and you have a right to do what you like as do i :)

You realise how many top actresses are actually short at 5'0. It looks better cinematically when they kiss a male lead
Shortround was a better written character than Rose.
plus I'm mainly upset with the storyline of the new movies. The side movies like Solo are amazing but the main story is not that great. I love most of the cast like Rey, Finn, and Po. I don't feel Rose is a necessary role because I'm sure Rey and Finn get together so she serves no purpose.
I watched solo a few days ago I'm suprised by how good it was
same it was really good.
A complete rewrite or if they were to remake it like the original newer existed. There was always a feeling of grandness about the prequels and orginals but these movies feel tiny and unimportant
They feel forced and oversaturated with their political messaging.
Wrong. 1 scene. Just one. You know it. You know what I'm going to say already.Luke Skywalker. The boy. The man. Our first and most highly enduring introduction to this beautiful, epic, powerful saga. That scene. Where he faces Kylo Ren. A sombre tone. A battle that lasts at least 5 minutes. He can die. But give HIM a proper send-off, as a badass, a true Jedi. Give US a proper, powerful, engaging duel. 2 samurai. Knights. Locked in noble combat, blade to blade, ideal to ideal, heart to heart.Give us that. Be genuine and address and acknowledge our needs. And personally I knock the rating up from a piddly 1 to a mediocre 5. 4 if it's not great. I wanted that moment and it would literally have saved the film from disaster for me. Carrie Poppins and bullshit Old Luke and fatass Tico and fakeout Snoke and horsebunny politics and the crappy casino and fakeout Phasma and... well anyway, all that would have been less painful with that one scene.
@Rodgerinho personally, I disagree that even that would have helped. Nonsensical planning, forced characters, completely nonsensical space combat, characters not staying or being consistent, Jesus Leia and on and on.Also, Luke himsel shouldn't have even been on that island. Hammil even said that that's not what Luke would have done. He'd maybe take a break for a few months, but not become a hermit with a wish to die.And his confrontation with Kylo shouldn't have happened in the first place since the real Luke would have never risen a lightsaber at the kid just because he sensed "some" evil in him, when years prior he literally helped redeem the second most evil man in the galaxy. So, I'll keep to the point that, not only do the individual scenes of the movie mess it up, but the entire premise does. The only way anything could be fixed is by a complete and utter remake.
Eh. Nah. Remake is quitting. A good director could make something of Last Jedi. I know all the complaints, TRUST ME, I've spent hours. I see the fix as being relatively manageable, it's fucking Star Wars ffs, it's an easy sell after all.Still, it's also a masterpiece and a vital piece of film-making. It may well be the movie that kills feminist, political bullshit in movies for good! 😄
@Rodgerinho well have to agree to disagree.
You're insisting on that but sure, I can disagree. I hate Last Jedi, it's a 1/10. I just believe in Star Wars. In the right hands it would have been amazing.
@Rodgerinho I thought the argument was about what can or can't be done with what is at hand, not what could have been.
Same thing, to be fair.So episode 9, or chapter 9/chapter 11, pun intended, is blank slate. Could be awesome. Now if it IS awesome, it has to cover some of the wiped shit that is the Last Jedi. It CAN go on a retcon mission and fk up all of Ruin Johnson's terrible decisions.Because we're looking long-term, the wider game at large, it's a trilogy not just a sequel, there IS the possibility of a successful return to form and expunging of the rancid, delusional filth we were given. So I say it would have been amazing, past tense, but also it can be amazing, future tense.Eh. It won't be amazing but at least if it gets to Clone Wars levels I'll give it a pass and get my hopes marginally higher for the next Disney attempt at Star Wars
Like episode 2 clone wars, not the tv show, I deemed episode 2 the least of all, until Last Jedi
I wrote a comment here outlining the path to saving the doomed Star Wars franchise, check that if you like bud, feel free to expand on or disagree with my stance
@Rodgerinho all I hope for is that they fail miserably and let Star Wars die. I've liked the franchise but it does not deserve this treatment, and with Fisher's passing, Ford's departure and unwillingness to participate and Hammil's displeasure with the direction, they completely squandered the chance to tell a decent epilogue for the original series where all the characters are older and wiser. That is now gone and making a star wars movie from a blank slate just for the sake of it is pointless. Disney has proven that they are creatively bankrupt. Any new movie will be the same thing but repackaged a bit differently - but the end goal is to sell the toys with familiar imagery, meaning we'll still get the analogue to stormtroopers, we'll still get the AT-ST analogues, the Death stars, the triangular spaceships and, of course, lightsabers.
Rich from Red letter Media summed it up pretty well - the Star Wars universe, the way it was built, was never meant to expand on what was already made in the original movies - you have all of the aforementioned things (didn't include Jedi and Sith) and that's pretty much it.Star Wars is creatively bankrupt, and it shows even more with this recent direction.I mean, apart from the crappy new characters, what exactly was new in the movies that was not anything derivative of the originals? Spaceships were just repaints, Star Killer base is the Death Star, that new rolling ball robot is just a newer R2D2, the Resistance (which shouldn't exists) is just the rebellion, the First Order (which shouldn't exists) is Just the Empire, Snoke is the Emperor, and on and on and on.
Any movie you'll make in this setting will always have these rehashed elements, and if it doesn't, then no one will like it. Prequels case in point - they exchanged mysticism for medichlorians - no one liked it.They made light-saber duels more choreographic, no one liked it. And on and on.
You make a good point. Fast and Furious and Transformers both follow exactly the same format with minimal variance and we're talking about a pair of franchises that combined outpace even Star Wars' movies.People know what they like and repeat business is far more prevalent when a customer's needs are met.To be fair the prequels were VERY different to the originals. No smugglers, no gangsters, no secret monk in the swamp/training montage. The focus was primarily Jedi/Sith, politics, and war.
I'd have enjoyed Last Jedi far more if they just sped the fucking A plot point up. Slowest chase in history? Snail chasing a tortoise? Come the fuck on. Sooo boring! Just have them leaping from point to point being outmanoeuvred, set the parameters, stick to them, and work out a mcguffin solution victory or a logically strategic victory. Then throw Canto Bight off the set into a trebuchet and off into the sun.The Last Jedi, it DID break with tradition and try something new. It just did something boring instead of something fun. It's like telling your girl you want to try something different in bed and then pulling out a scrabble set and actually taking it seriously. Bitch wanted to cum while you call her a dirty slut and finger her asshole! This was not the time for scrabble! ! !
True but the actress was shit too
I didn't much care. I thought she was cute. I just hated the character and the sophomoric morality and mentality of her. Her: "I'm ready to die now, I freed a few animals!"Me: "What about the kids, I see them being whipped for releasing you?"Her: "Fuck 'em"Her: "not killing what we hate, but saving what we love"Me: "You literally just killed finn. There is no way he survived that high speed collision and you most certainly killed all the resistance. They have no exit and I can see them dying in the background. Also, why didn't you say the same to Holdo?"Her: "Fuck it I'm passing out."
https://i.redd.it/xukeps88el601.jpgDon't get me started on Holdo, why didn't she just crash the ship into the super star destroyer at thd begining or tell the rest of the rebels the plan.
Females aren't rare. You're over 50% of the world's population. By definition you're the opposite of rare lol :pFYI the new Star Wars is delusional nonsense that pretends like girls such as yourself are just waiting around for a feminist version of Star Wars and you'll get super invested and be mega-fans, automatically, just because: Power of feminism>/=reasons. They're crapping hard on everything established and beloved in favour of this new direction. It uh... it isn't going well for them hahaha 😂.It's like if the sequel to Bridget Jones' diary was a fast-paced action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger doing one-liners all the way through.
@Rodgerinho I know plenty of women who love Star Wars so don't speak for 50% of the population. My disinterest isn't indicative of my entire gender.
and of course someone assumes its some feminist thing. I don't even care if star wars was full of chicks lol
I said the movie is feminist garbage, I didn't say what you said was feminist, though you have every right to voice things that way, no skin off my nose.I am talking for females. I've lived long enough to know Star Wars has a FAR HIGHER male fanbase than female. Of the hundreds of women I can call on, and trust me Star Wars comes up often when people know me, only a handful of girls actually enjoy it. That's my experience and I know it's broader than just that. It's like saying you have a black friend, saying you know a girl who likes Star Wars. Doesn't mean very much
@Rodgerinho It's no worse then you claiming the small portion of women you know is indicative of an entire gender. I'm not saying i have one female friend who likes Star Wars I'm saying out of ALL the women I know there are two who don't like Star Wars. And if your age is accurate you are only 3-4 years older then me buddy that isn't that big of a difference. We could have been in high school together. And if for some stupid reason you are older then your age says you were part of the age group where women were less likely to admit they liked something like Star Wars doesn't mean they are telling you the truth. I'm old enough to remember in Canada when there was a dividing line between Hockey and Figure Skating where girls figure skated and boys played hockey I was also young enough to see that change. Demographics change buddy, if a series as long running as Star Wars wants to continue making movies they have to change with the demographics. Just the way it is.
Oh. . . you're Canadian? That changes literally everything. You guys aren't on the same planet as the rest of us, you're ridiculously far in advance of the rest of the world in progressive thought. And realistically we're going in a completely different direction. It worked for Cuba to be different, I admire the balls your country have. Also, I ain't your buddy, guy. I'm not your guy, friend. Hehe he he.
I'd be utterly shocked if the majority of Canadian women didn't like Star Wars. You crazy fuckers openly fart and smoke tons of weed, can legally reveal your tits, and completely fail to respond in a typically female way to the threat of bears. You're different. In a good way, largely. You remind me of island people, similar toughness. Heck you mention hockey, there is NO female following for local combat sports here. I have 2 decades experience across rugby, multiple forms of competitive fighting, and banger racing. Male dominated to the point of awkwardness if a female turns up. Mothers and families, VERY occasionally. Yet in Canada, you get a strong female presence for HOCKEY. Or as it's also known, Dentistry on Ice. Madness.
You have my word, here, in the countryside and the city, the following for Star Wars is zip-zero absolutely nil. Of the thousands of women I've met, and to be honest I've deliberately met a lot of attractive, self-interested women, Star Wars is a sufferance, not a passion. I know this detail intimately. Nobody was pretending to dislike it. Canada's demographic may well have changed, but that's not indicative of Star Wars.
If there really was a universal shift in demographics, why is there zero online presence to reflect it? It's all males who are unhappy. Thousands of them making videos. Likely even in the millions of commenting dissenters for the Last Jedi. I mean it's all good and well saying women like Star Wars nowadays, but they definitely don't outnumber men, and if they're not unhappy enough to say something, then you can draw inferences about the passion of their fandom. Beyond that, now that the majority are pissed off, the money's dried up. Sucks for any women who DO like Star Wars, because without the men paying like maniacs and buying everything, the movies aren't being made, Last Jedi/Solo's failures saw 3 movies confirmed cancelled. 6 really, the Rian Johnson movies are too big a gamble now. Just the way it is, as you said yourself.
She seemed like a sweet girl, a terribly written character though.
That's too bad!
Agreed, although it was too bad that the entire movie was terrible. Then the directors and head of Lucasfilm lashed out at fans so we’ll see what happens moving forward. They lost big money on their last movie.
@ladsin The lash out at fans was pathetic. Anyone who said anything negative about the force awakens and last jedi was automatically a sexist or racist.
