I'm uncertain. I saw a documentary showing how little boys and girls thought about dolls of different colour. It didn't show how they were raised, but the girls with black genes thought the black doll was less beautiful than the white one. And they responded the same when asked about themselves. The white girls said the same thing (that the white doll was more beautiful than the black). This made me sad. They were so young, and this had already manisfasted in their minds.
They still played with the black doll, but thought it was lesser than the white.
This was just skin colour. I think body shape is even more manifested. Some kids would maybe be thrilled to have something different to play with than stick figures, or maybe even something that looks more similar to themselves. I can imagine some will cry or be really pissed off though.
They should make a more realistic doll. Barbie has an unobtainable body shape (Unless you pay for surgery). Boys and girls already have a terrible image of how their body should look like. Barbie's gotta go.
In Iran the government forbid the importation of Barbie dolls. They manufactured a doll which had the features their culture said they valued. The Iranian doll wore a full burka and had a unibrow. Little girls didn't like it even though it resembled their mothers and aunts. They wanted Western Barbie (which causes so many kids to think they don't look good enough). Dads ALSO
preferred the curvaceous real Barbie and there was a lot of successful smuggling and high prices set for them. Some fantasy is fun.
So I don't think girls would enjoy a plump or full-figured doll. And I think parents would consider it set a poor example for kids to make is seem acceptable to eat more and exercise less. Not that all people overeat when they gain weight. There are many reasons why we gain more weight than is healthy.
Realism and copying what is common in society would suggest Acne Barbie and Dandruff Barbie; but those aren't the values we want to mirror.
i get where they are coming from with the idea because many children are 'obese' but in all honesty i don't think it would be a good idea because it would kind of show children that being obese is okay when really it is not healthy, same thing with the skinnier barbie i'm sure some bigger kids (which is fine, just because they are a little big does not mean that they are unhealthy) have tried to starve them self or have under ate to look like her or even his barbie told they have in the toy box.
Kids would be kids and be like 'i wanna look like barbie' etc.
It would be nice if they did, it would help them to grow up knowing they don't have to have a unhealthily skinny body to look like the toys they got as children.
Being realistic though, too many seem to like the skinny style of toys now, so I want to believe the new children could be introduced to body positive and be taught that the skinny toys are toys that were made but when the machine didn't have enough plastic left :D
But it doesn't matter, love your body regardless of shape, size, colour or anything, have body confidence!
You're big? Love that, you hear how many people saying they want Thicc thighs? :)
You're slightly skinny? Love that too! us noodles can get around all the crowds! :D
You're anorexic? Love yourself! Never hate yourself for your weight! <3
With all the indoctrination these kids get in school why would they expect anything different? The schools have managed to teach them to ignore their intuition and observations on a number of issues. They’ve managed to brainwash kids into thinking all manner of things that are deviant and degenerate are good and to be celebrated.
Why not put the icing on the cake for them and give them a body positive Barbie, a homosexual Ken doll and a second Ken doll so the two Ken dolls can marry and a dollhouse with gender neutral bathrooms in it?
"Muh boring vanilla values are being threatened by people trying to enjoy life ree"
Yeah it’s great for society promoting homosexuality, transvestitism, transgenderism, and all that stuff encompasses.
If that’s what people enjoy, why not simply enjoy it? Why the need to promote it, indoctrinate others and teach it in school?
Why do you need to promote anything then? You can use that same argument for anything
You didn’t answer the question. If what leftists want is sooooo good why the need to promote it and brainwash people? Brain washing is usually needed for things people wouldn’t readily accept or agree to on their own.
So why the need to promote transvestitism, homosexuality, transgenderism, the idea that straight white Christian males are bad and have victimized every one on the planet due to their privilege, socialist and communist economics, anything against traditional morality, anti gun sentiments, environmentalism, abortion, globalism, illegal immigration and the implication that anyone does not endorse and agree with these things is bad and lacks tolerance... all while denying the right to a differing opinion.
So why must these things be promoted? For what cause?

There is certainly nothing body positive about the pictures you chose to post.
You could have found pics of the actual products.
Children are taught to perceive certain things are wrong in our culture. For the most part, body type preferences are VERY culturally influenced, as are height and skin color/ethnicity preferences.
One need not actually reinforce destructive and mean spirited cultural norms with ones children. As a parent, one can take an enlightened approach instead, and raise children who are kinder, more accepting, and ultimately more able to get along well with others, which can help in school, business and even prevent wars, ultimately.
I think it's a great idea because it teaches reality. The problem with a lot of "inspirational" dolls is they give kids false expectations about life. I'm tired of kids playing with business woman Barbie, doctor Barbie, lawyer Barbie etc all with their perfect figures and fantastic lives. It's time we had heart attack Barbie, council slag Barbie, couch potato Barbie, all with shit jobs like burger king Barbie and toilet attendant Barbie. Show kids their real future.
So you'd rather encourage kids to be unhealthy and mediocre?
They don't need encouraging
council slag Barbie lol🤣
A child is a product of there environment and would hopefully not have learned how to make judgement upon others whether or not what's Fat and Skinny it doesn't matter and shouldn't matter ! All that matters is your Child or Children recognize the gift of being alive and healthy because that's all that really matters anyway. It's others that may have there own views as to what they think matters and then try convincing others there point of views that cause life long issues. After all wasn't that's what Adolf Hitler tried doing? Look where it took him and those he influenced?
There was a video done with this same idea and I think another with barbies/dolls of different color and it showed that children don't care what their toys look like, skin tone, body shape, their minds are shaped by their parents. No one is born hateful or discriminate, it's developed over time. When I was a young child my mother would openly speak against plus-sized/bigger people. Talking about how disgusting they were and other demeaning things. I never took on that belief but it affected my self-esteem badly. If she had been more positive and open I don't think it would've had the same effect.
I don't know but I know I wouldn't have liked it as a kid. These look awesome:
I think these ☝️ are body positive because they look more like real women, not necessarily fat, I wouldn't like my (future) kids to think fat is good..
To be honest there is nothing good about the body positive movement telling people that it is okay to be obeys isn't good being obeys is worse than smoking why should that be okay if anything we should promote obeys people to diet (eat and enjoy food but every day a bit less than the day before so you would reach a healthy eating habit)
I'd think that it would depend on the individual kid, but would not like it.
But as a parent, I'd be more concerned that our locked & safe home's security has been breached by the easy intrusion of a guy with a sack while we were all his mercy given our state of unconsciousness.
Correction: "I'd think that it would depend on the individual kid, but I (as the parent) would not like it, since it could give the message that my kid aspiring to be obese would be okay. (I have a cousin who's obese. Last I heard, the family's water is Coca Cola®, and his family-members don't put him on a diet since their weak to his tears. To make things worse, the mother has a phobia against doctors for fear of major diagnoses. Does she not realize it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, since going to the doctor regularly would help discover problems BEFORE they become major problems?)"
They should be shouldn't they? I think they need to sell more of those and parents need to buy more of those... Body shaming has been on for too long.
Did u know that the barbie's body proportions are actually impossible for a human without them being malnourished or unhealthy?
isn't the whole point of barbie to look great? For little girls to look up to a healthy adult women so they can be that way themselves..
Exactly.
Well a fat barbie is no better than the model thin Barbie. Both are extremes. How about a 34 26 36 Barbie with normal length and sized legs. Her proportions have always been bizarre. I think if she were a real woman she'd have a 48 inch chest and a 23 inch waist or some such nonsense. She'd look great with healthy, human proportions.
yeah thats fine as well totally
“Shut up you body positive whore” 😂😂
And hell no. If i had a kid i would teach them exactly what my mom taught me.
Being fat is not cute or healthy, and ill never support others who think its OK
Well said. Well said.
Being unhealthy is never positive thing. Leaving your body to live like a bag of fat is not a healthy thought on its own. In fact the fat barbie is an agenda to promote fatism. In order to give rise to a fat unhealthy lazy society...
THATS MY OPINION!
Yeah, I don't think you really thought this question through.
being fat means having an unhealthy body. being skinny means having a malnourished body. both should not be promoted. barbie should be modeled by marilyn monroe. a healthy amount of fat
Which Marilyn Monroe? Fat Marilyn or Norma Gene?
You know what i want to see?
Divorced, single mother, alcoholic Barbie. It comes with all Kens accessories, plus a pair of scissors to cut herself with and a bottle of pills to overdose on.
If that doesn't give little girls realistic and easily achievable standards to look up to, then nothing will.
I just think a Child whose brought up with respect
should not worry if they get a Barbie Doll that is
overweight.
Respect is good but diabetes is bad.
I know Diabetes is bad but can't teach your Child to turn down one whose overweight
There is nothing, absolutely NOTHING positive about being morbidly obese or even overweight. This is NOT something to celebrate. This is on the same level as anorexia. Many people have this delusion that being overweight is sexy. Yes, they may be beautiful but there is nothing sexy about going to an early grave.
I'm sure the kid would not put that much thought into it. They wouldn't really know what the standard for a doll is, nor would they likely associate dolls with society in general, since they don't even have a concept for the latter.
Obesity is a very serious, and growing health problem in America. Making a body positive, which is actually a body negative, sends the message that being obese if normal. We need to send the message that obese and being model skinny, both are not normal. We should promote health and normal weight. Not by shaming, but by example and education.
Why not a doll that emulates normal, healthy proportions instead of being fat or skinny? Fat Barbie has three chins, for fucks sake!
Fair enough. But I still stand by the first part of my statement.
I agree that the traditional Barbie is skinny to the point of being unhealthy. It is not a good message to give to young girls. But that does not justify the toy industry going to the other extreme and producing dolls with an obese body type in hopes of appeasing the critics. I'm just saying I hope they find a happy medium.
Today's normal is fat
Oh goodie, now they will have a doll they can pretend is getting constantly fat shamed by their other skinnier dolls, just like in real life.
I get the good intentions behind the idea, but it's not going to work out as some think it will.
