well he seems like a good man. Cannot really say i am upset over his death looks like he lived a life it wasn't any tragedy really. Not sure i agree with some things he say. Because at the end of the day peace in the real word don't get far when you have terrorists shooting people. And respect of diversity quote is way to vague like most quotes from people like this. Should we respect a racist? because there opinion is different? Lol. I don't think it is what he meant. But people really should make there words more clear. Or maybe he really did believe oh well that's just normal humans are all different and we should respect them even if there difference is them been racist or whatever.

Well at the end of the day the man spent 30 years campaigning for civil rights of an oppressed Irish nationalist minority. He brought republican terrorists to the peace table with the British government and thus ended the troubles. Remember you had various organisations running around in Northern Ireland, mainland Britain, the Republic of Ireland and internationally bombing and murdering over politics and nationality/religion/ethnicity. Organisations like the RUC, British Army, B-Specials, UDR, UDA, UVF, LVF, UPR, UR, Redhanded comandos, Provisional IRA, old IRA, INLA, IPLO. John Hume was one of the few leading politicians that hadn't blood on his hands. He even brought the unionists to the peace table kicking and screaming. The peace process took 25 years and what was on the table in the Sunningdale Agreement was more or less in the Good Friday agreement which the people of Northern Ireland voted for, Unionist terrorists eventually had to declare a ceasefire, so in truth the conflict was all for nothing on both sides.

That's pretty good. But nothing ever goes away when it comes to people's beliefs and how far they would go. And The IRA still exist. And there is nothing stopping things from kicking off again. Of course no one is gonna argue that he wasn't doing something useful but i just think what he say's can only take you so far. Due to humans nature. There are people who can be talked to who are reasonable with peace but there are some that cannot be at all. I am more on the side violence is needed sometimes won't stop Hitler by been peaceful just as an extreme example. But most certainly a guy preaching peace never really hurt. Just i don't agree with some of his quotes.

The IRA were all bought off and are men in their 50s& 60s half of whom suffer PTSD with drug/alcohol addictions and about a quarter ended up working for British security services during the troubles. Unionist terrorists have too mostly retired or become gangsters. The paratroopers responsible for murdering scores of British citizens in the ballymurphy & bloody Sunday massacres that started the troubles are all too old to prosecute and have escaped justice.
there's no longer any reason for the IRA to fight there's no support for, Sinn Feinn are sharing power and are making gains in the Republic of Ireland. Its the ballot box not the armalite that the unionists fear. People in Northern Ireland have moved on from the troubles and no one but a minority of extremists wants a return. At the start of the troubles the population was 30/70 in favour of protestant unionists now its closer to 50/50 and may soon in the next few years by 60/40 in favour of Irish Catholics making an Irish Republic possible but again its the people espicially the younger generation who dont remember the troubles that will decide that and they don't care to much about a united Ireland or staying part of Britain and thats with irish culture on the rise among the youth. The younger better educated up and coming generation dont want it.
Time has shown that the troubles were unnecessary and pointless.

yea but look at BLM protests and antifa all you need is one small flame and boom you got some people rioting the streets again. People's nature to cause chaos or go over board with there beliefs shall always happen at some point. But that's pretty good that IRA are changing there image. But one small guy sneaks in there starts simple manipulation techniques and it could be a whole new thing again. But then again no point arguing about what could happen. All i am saying is you couldn't stop Hitler by been peaceful so i disagree with that no conflict thing.

Not the same. Irish Catholics are actually doing pretty well in northern Ireland, there's no or little discrimination anymore. The police (PSNI) are nearly 45/55 irish catholic and there's little to no secrterian police persecution of irish catholics like under the old RUC. Northern Ireland would actually be a good example for police reform, like America police in Northern Ireland are armed, even with machine guns yet there's no shooting of unarmed civilians.
Hitler took advantage of extreme situations such as economic collapse, mass inflation, anger, fear, hatred and ignorance which could happen anywhere at anytime. Germany after ww1 was the perfect storm for a man like Hitler and if it had been any other man like Hitler such as Rohm it might have blown over.
