In a society where free enterprise is a virtue, people like Elon have the opportunity to become as rich as he is. The companies he created provided the value for him to be worth $200 billion.
@sensible27 Yes freedom and choice are a virtue. But it bothers me that people like you in America think that there is some breezy unfettered market force pulsating through the nation rather than a very strictly controlled industrial system
It would be interesting to know how much money he has given to homeless people or people in poor countries who are starving. If somebody is worth billions but refuses to give anything to the poor and homeless, then I question their morality.
No it doesn't, idiot. His wealth is in what other people are willing to pay for the stock in his company. Many tech companies plow most of what they make into research and internal infrastructure. Many pay no dividends - for years Microsoft didn't, although they have been for a while now. I don't know what he takes as pay but it is assuredly a small fraction of his stock holdings.
@zagor You're full of shite. When somebody owns a business it makes money, and that money is then used to buy things like cars, houses, gold, expensive holidays etc. What a giant idiot you are.
He did get rich through technology and investments so yeah I'm sure he deserves it way more than some braindead influencers like kardashians or someone similar

Omg.. seeing this closeup of his face reminded me of my most recent ex and now I feel even more disgust than before... ugh
I don't like him or his work, but it's always pleasing to see a successful White South African. What have the BLACKS from that country accomplished? Ah NOTHING!

How exactly is 'free enterprise' a virtue
Because freedom, independence and choice is a virtue (in a society)

His "worth" is in the value of the companies he owns. It's not like he has billions sitting in a money bin like Scrooge McDuck.
@zagor And his companies are making him money. His money has to be kept somewhere, idiot.

You need to study more about economics.

LOL wow you are just barely literate...
@zagor And you're as dumb as a rock
And yet managed to finish in the 90+ percentiles of all sections of the GRE.
If you know what that is...
I have no jealousy nor envy for the man. I’m
Content and happy where I am in life and am glad for him he has been so financially successful.

He has failed for the longest time to make a single dollar with his company, Tesla.
Carbon credits just fell in his lap.
I despise the dude, he won't listen to his own warnings.
Good for him.
I am inspired from what he is able to achieve.
So what? He earned it. He worked his ass off for what he has.
Work isn’t the word I would use.
He outsmarted people
He has don well and is one of a few who are looking out for us all. he done some very good things.
Looking out for us? How? People who become billionaires only "look out" for one person, and that is themselves.
I don't like him or his work, but it's always pleasing to see a successful White South African. What have the BLACKS from that country accomplished? Ah NOTHING!
Worked for It. xx
I don't care at all..
I think it's ridiculous. Tax the rich 🤷🏻♀️
I don't care. he is not going to give me money
Happy for him , the dude works his ass off.
Watch and see. This dude is the Antichrist!
Good for him. Wait a week to se if it changes.
Americans love him. But no one will ever be him.
This guy earned and deserve every penny of it.
