At least three elementary schools in New York have banned "Squid Game" costumes ahead of Halloween over the "violent messages aligned with the costume," Fayetteville-Manlius School District Superintendent Dr. Craig Tice told USA TODAY.
"It would be inappropriate for any student to wear to school a Halloween costume from this show because of the potential violent messages aligned with the costume," Tice said in an e-mailed statement, adding that the show is "intended for mature audiences."
'Squid Game' has taken over the internet. Now, it plans to take over Halloween.

Sounds very American 😂... literally almost all costumes are associated with some form of violence at Halloween. People dress like axe murderers, horror movie characters, all sorts of supernatural creatures like vampires etc. what's next? Ban dressing up at Halloween at all? Are people so out of control that they can't even dress like something without acting like it? Wtf
Im in elementary schools right now calling parents left and right explaining that they need to stop letting their child watch that BS and enact it in the classrooms.
I think it's stupid personally like 90% of costumes on the market are associated with violence and violent acts.
Lets look at some of the current iconic, classic and popular kids costumes.
Vampire a creature that has to suck the blood out of people in order to survive via biting people they're basically murderers.
The joker a violent psychopath who is well known for his violent crimes and horrific acts such as killing swaths of innocent people is a variety of horrific and violent ways.
Pirate a type of violent criminal known for robbing ships, raping, pillaging and kidnaping.
Deadpool, enough said.
The Rake a cryptid that sneaks into peoples bedrooms and induces horrific nightmares upon them, observe them then kill them.
Wearing a pink jumpsuit isn't gonna suddenly turn your kid violent or aggressive and if it does then you have much bigger problems to worry about. If a costume suddenly turns a kid violent that's an indication that there's something wrong with your parenting and or your household.
I mean I can see where they are coming from but they would have to ban so many violent things like WWE fighters wouldn’t want a smack down vs raw in the cafeteria, or ban witches Salem witch trials in 4th period would be too dangerous, how about banning superhero’s can’t have people jumping off of desk like Spider-Man or trying to destroy others with their kryptonite
There are so many dangerous things kids can be and do. It’s just a costume at the end of the day. I don’t believe it is that serious
I agree with their opinion on it being inappropriate, but we don’t need a governmental entity being the arbiter of what’s appropriate and inappropriate. Opinions are fluid, and they vary from person to person, and minute to minute. We need individual freedom to make decisions as we should be the arbiter of our own life. How someone raises their kid is their business. I personally wouldn’t allow my kid to partake in the advertising of such a gruesome show, but that’s my call. They’re in elementary school. Why are you exposing a literal child to squid games? They shouldn’t even know about this. Again, it’s my decision though.
Good. I teach first grade and every time I hear my students talking about it, I shut the conversation down immediately. A 6 year old has no business watching a show like that. And yes, before someone comes with a stupid reply, I also stop them from talking about all that Freddy and Jason and all the other scary crap too. Movie rating are their for a reason.
Kids will mimic it in their own interpretation still XD. So many adults and parents are stupid instead of handing your kids "forbidden fruit." Maybe ACTUALLY TAKE THE TIME TO TEACH THE KIDS WHY ITS WRONG. And like do the actual work that comes with "PARENTING." Its like all the orgs that are suppose to prevent kids from trying drugs. Its like instead of telling them why not to use just SHOW them what the side effects that are actually negative.
My friend’s daughter was invited to a squid game birthday themed party— for 5th graders. She said kids are playing “Red Light Green Light” and pretending to kill other kids during recess.
Well, I agree kids probably shouldn't be watching that, but I don't know if them banning the costumes is going to anything. You can't kid-proof the world all the time.
That's dumb. Unless if somehow demons and ghouls, and serial killers or even ghostface are judged the same. Which they are not and are fine on Halloween thus hypocrites.

It was the f*cked-up and inconsistent standards American school boards and educators have, in which a TV show is "too dangerous" for children, but teaching them hatred, and literal racism and discrimination is "acceptable," as well as letting little girls get raped because the rapist is on the mentally ill LGBT spectrum, thus "must be protected at all costs, even if a few girls get raped along the way."
Not that I don't know what Active Measures (Ideological Subversion) are, and how most everyone on the far left is literally trying to intentionally destroy America and the West through Marxism and Communism. But rather, how so many people are idiotic enough to let them do it. Although it seems like people are finally waking up to this crap, given how many parents are fighting back against CRT now and how Biden's administration are willing to call them "domestic terrorists" for it. Which you'd think would finally wake up the rest of the people on the fence, but no.
In other words, this story is irrelevant compared to bigger, more important issues at play, here. Sure, shield your kids from Squid Game, but not from racist propaganda being shoved down their throats or literal rape being ignored by school officials. Makes "sense."
And for the record, I'm an English teacher here in Korea and just about every student I have, some as young as 7, has seen Squid Game from start to finish. They aren't traumatized from it or anything, even though I personally wouldn't have approved of them watching it. Seems like Korean parents know a hell of a lot more of how to ensure their children are mature and capable than US parents do. Korean kids can tell what a TV show is, as well as tell when they're being taught to hate others and see them as subhuman... To relate it back around to Squid Game.
Well we wouldn’t want kids to think violence is ok….. until it’s time to protest perceived racial injustice. Then violence is acceptable as is looting, arson and destruction of property.
There was literally a trend of kids stealing from schools on camera called "Devious Licks" so no shit. Kids are idoits and parents who let their kids get away with those things are irresponsible.
If you are a parent and you let your kids watch Squid Game before 16, you are a bad parent. Why would any parent let their elementary aged kids watch it?
