Conservatives wouldn't be triggered by this. When this came out, these cartoons were aimed at adults, not children. The idea of a man in a dress being a coward or some sort of trap to lure stupid males has always existed and remains a problematic trope to this day. Transgender people are not a joke or a trap, they are just people trying to live their lives as the opposite sex that they were born in.
People back then still enjoyed sex, people have always enjoyed sex. Societies views on transgender and homosexuals back then is the topic you brought up though, not how prudish some individuals back then were or weren't. No thinks there was a time when the public would see a man in drag and scream in horror and shock. But they were seen as perverts and a joke. It was still illegal for men to be gay in many places back then.
This example you have given is like bringing up a cartoon from the 1930 of a racist stereotype of the time and said "people today always say black people are under represented in media, but look! Here is cartoon of black people way back in the 1930s!"
I thought they would banned crossdressing from TV shows back then. There is a popular movie from the 1950s with crossdressing. As much I disagree with the Muslims, they are more upfront about their bigotry. I do not think you would not find TV shows or movies with crossdressing in Saudi Arabia
Buggs bunny wasn't shown on TV back in the 40s and 50s, it was shown on theatres to adults, not children. It would be shown along side movies like some like it hot.
And yes, 1950s America, where they would just put you in prison for being gay, was better than 2020s Saudi Arabia, where they will torture you and possibly execute you for being gay. But it's a bit like saying, it's better that the mafia are more friendly than the cartels, because the mafia will just cut off your arms and legs, but the cartel will cut off your head. But really, neither are ideal.
