What do you think of the claims of US funded biological weapons development in the Ukraine?

Everyone's latching onto a video by Victoria Nuland where she supposedly admitted that the US was funding biological weapons labs (which she euphemized as "biological research labs"). The claim made by the proponents of Putin's war is this is some kind of huge revelation. Some have argued that because they were researching pathogens that the USSR turned into bioweapons, the aim of this research could only have been to weaponize them. I would argue that this is false, you could research pathogens for a wide variety of reasons but the bigger issue with this argument is this:

That the US has been funding labs in the Ukraine where scientists were studying pathogens used in Soviet bioweapons has been public knowledge since at least 2005.

So, basically Russia knew that these experiments were going on and it's only now that the war has started and they are facing severe backlash for it that they suddenly have a problem with this? Talk about back peddling -_-

Also, WMDs leftover from the fall of the USSR falling into the wrong hands has been a longstanding concern; this isn't something new that came about from the invasion of the Ukraine.

It's total bullshit because:
1. EVERYTHING russia says about this war is a lie. this is a lie/conspiracy theory is designed to make their invasion appear justified, as if an American attack with bio weapons was imminent.
2. the US doesn't develop bio/chemical weapons and has no program that does.
3. no country (with the possible exception of russia or other terror states) currently develops bio weapons for simple reasons: you can't confine and control spread of a virus and it would eventually spread to your own people. and chemical weapons kill civilians, not armies equipped with gas masks.

the "Chinese lab" that made the news time ago, where they said that this scientist had COVID samples previous to the pandemic... that research was also funded by the USA so... one can make many interpretations about these things... lol
