Guns are not the means to resist anything. Theu serve only the purpose of helping frightened people feel like it is actually they who are frightening. Pull a gun on a cop and it will be ruled a suicide. No tyrant can rise without an abundance of popular support - remember Trump didn't stage a coup (at first), but rather he won an election. No one tried to shoot him to defend the US from tyranny. Cops actively beat up protestors and killed unarmed civillians. No one tried to shoot them to defend themselves from tyranny. If there was any example of it happening it would be easier to believe that was the true motive. But there are none.
