It should be done. No one needs a killing machine like that in the home! Period.
I think it is people's perceptions that need adjusting. Guns are meant for hunting to provide food on the table. Guns have different purposes depending on the species, etc. Bear guns are also necessary for hiking. In the Yukon and Northwest territories people use semi-automatics as bear guns because it is the only weapon that will be effective on polar bears. Guns shouldn't be seen as killing machines. They are also a hobby and used for gun ranges. It is fun trying out different guns. Also, anyone can make a gun into semi-automatic so it is pointless to remove them simply for the purpose of 'reducing' crime, because criminals can still make them. Some guns, it is a matter of just swapping two pins, 15 minute fix, to make it semi-automatic. I think it is city people who don't understand the purpose for guns and think they are only for killing, which is wrong. Also, if you study any country that descended into tyranny and socialism, removing guns are one of the many steps. The government needs to fear the people and not the other way around. If the government does a poor job at protecting their people from robberies (ie, if they removed guns from police), how else will someone defend their home? If guns are killing machines and should be banned, so that is also cross bows, recurve bows, paint ball guns, air soft guns... That's another thing, air soft guns can be equally as dangerous if not more so than semi-automatics. So let's band that as well. In fact, how about Dollarama stop selling play guns... This would solve all crime right? Wrong! What solves crime is bringing Christianity and tradition back into North America, family values, community, fixing our broken marriage system, teach kids to take responsbility for their lives, etc. Taking away guns is a band-aid solution that fixes nothing. It only allows the government to have more control over citizens.

Removing toys is what you do with children. If people are being childish with guns, it is the people that need to be dealt with, not removing the guns. This is a form of bubble-wrapping people. We live in a chaotic world. Our system is about reining in the chaos. But to bubble-wrap people as a form of dissolving chaos will only weaken people and cause more issues, Ie we have 1 bad leader who turns everything into a socialist tyrannical state. Then, there definitely will be war and blood shed. Guess who will have the semi-automatic rifles? The police. Not you.

They should not even have target practices "for fun". Japan boasts over a million people in their country and their homicide rates are about zero. They yield to strict gun laws in their country and have to go through a lot of tests, including tests done in hospitals, written tests, and much more just to get a rifle or shotgun. No other guns are allowed them. THAT is why their homicide rate is so low--and ours is #2 in the world after Brazil. Japan has a very low rate of homicide crimes due to arms. In 2019, in a country of more than 25 billion people, the homicide rate die to guns was 007. So it IS preventable to control the crazies.

It's not a gun issue. When I was in highschool, during hunting seasons, almost every vehicle it the parking lot of the school had guns. It was not uncommon to go hunting in the morning, go to school and finish hunting that afternoon. Before heading home.

The thing is I´m no where from being an expert, I thought that semi-automatics are only referring to more complex guns like the AR-15. But I´m not really sure anymore after I learned that also "simple" pistols classify as semi-automatics. I would assume that she´s referring to assault weapons
@SimpleGuy95 semi-automatic means that the gun has some sort of mechnism, that puts the next round in the chamber automatically. fully automatic is when the next shot is fired automatically.
i'm not some sort of gun nut. i'm actually slightly opposed to legal gun ownershit. and i think the distinction between what's legal and what not is completely idiotic. also there's always workarounds.
for example you can attach a spring loaded stock to an ar15 and make it fully automatic exploiting it's recoil. but since the gun is still not technically fully automatic, it's legal.
to me personally, the issue is the principle. should a person be "able" to kill another person using a firearm? yes or no? if yes, then i don't get those arbitrary distinction between automatic and manual. cause if in principle it is "wanted" that a person is "able" to kill someone else, then why limit how often a second they can do that?
Thanks for that clarification. My stand on guns personally is that people can have guns if it makes them feel safe but only as long as they can show some kind of evidence that they are mature and responsible enough to handle such a weapon in a way that´s healthy for society. Therefore I would firstly raise the age to 25 because 18 is way too young for that and I would try to regulate the selling in general.

What a stupid argument. At the time the Constitution was written we didn't have computers, does that mean that all of our free speech rights should be confined to quill pen and paper? Of course not. And this argument that Biden makes about Americans not being allowed to own cannons under the Constitution is completely false. American privateers had cannons for their privately own ships. And a Slavery abolutionist from Kentucky in the 19th century, Cassius Marcellus Clay, owned two cannons to help protect his home and printing press. And last time I checked, you don't hunt a deer with a cannon. And the Second Amendment is the only Amendment that says, "Shall not be infringed." Meaning that it was an absolute right of the people.
Now if you have an issue with the current types of weapons that's a difficult argument, that I'll still disagree you. But saying that the Constitution doesn't apply because something like an AR-15 didn't exist at the time is a truly ignorant argument.

Have you considered that maybe universal firearm ownership is wrong? The country clearly thought so until a few decades ago when people started perpetrating the fraud (in the words of a former conservative Chief Justice of SCOTUS) that the second amendment meant there should be no restrictions at all.
As to Ukraine; they're being invaded by a hostile power. That is a reasonable time to arm the populace. How much money do you put into your military? Don't you think they can defend you from invasion by Mexico or Canada?

Anyone who even thinks about invading us should have that fear. That's why a nation at peace should be well armed. Forget about them being fearful of our military. Let any potential invader fear our civilians.

Now that is something I can certainly agree with. American policies have had some terrible outcomes. We are no angel. But I love my country. I love what it stands for. That doesn't mean I ignore our past problems. But it does mean that we have come a long way and have further to go.
However again I want to do so with our Constitution as a foundation on which to continue building. Even if that means keeping our firearms.
And even though it sounds like I was speaking negatively of Europe, it was not my intention. And even though I've never been to Europe, I can still love the rich culture.

I use an AR15 to protect my house and family. I can attach a lightbto identify my target at night and mounted a suppressor so I do t loose my hearing firing and.45 ACP round indoors. Even a laser sight because it causes a psychological effect.
