Frankly, I think they're one of the biggest obstacles to seeing more widespread adoption of vegetarianism in America today. Dialing back animal cruelty and reducing our impact on the biosphere around us are hardly ideas most people are opposed to, but the organization's wanton hypocrisy, constant harassment of innocent people, and insistence that ALL of its demands be met RIGHT NOW ensure a huge chunk of the population sees vegetarians as moral toddlers, and prevents them from being taken seriously.

I'm pretty sure that if you ate the president of PETA, most vegetarians would THANK you.

I admire their dedication but they are pretty extreme in their positions. I’m all for ethical regulations for hunting and agriculture but you can’t go too far with it. Cruel practices are one thing but we need to harvest animals for food and animal testing is crucial to science. If they would moderate their views, I could get more on board but extremism limits your appeal.
