It’s a business and there is a lot of competition for viewers/readers. Media outlets spin the news (or fabricate it) to fit what they think a particular audience wants to hear. Case in point, the Dominion/voter fraud stories Fox News ran. Internally they knew it was BS but they also knew their audience desired it to be true and other outlets would steal those viewers if they didn’t run with it. That’s the state of American media right now and it’s going on to various degrees all over. People complain about it but the truth is, they don’t want unbiased news. They want to hear their own narrative echoed. We’re all partly to blame.
I think it's more that 100% of Americans believe the opposite parties news channel is lying and there's is telling the truth.
I already knew that but it is dangerous. If you can’t trust your media of institutions and right now institutional trust not just in the media is at an all time low. It means you’re getting closer and closer to war. Once you don’t trust your leadership at a company you leave but when it’s a government there only 1 thing do to and that kill the people in power. (Not a call to arms) this won’t result in anything good
Only 50% ? The media lost all credibility 20 years ago.
The media is all about sensationalism, drum beating and generating faux outrage over nothing. Have you noticed how little cover the disaster in ohio is getting? It's drowned out by a hundred different stories about nothing.
"News Nation" is covering it pretty well. Others are not.

Read about this earlier. No surprise. Trust in the media is at record low. Few sources are trying but not gaining enough traction.
I’m glad people are catching on. It’s pretty obvious when the media are full of ex-intelligence operatives like James Clapper who were proved to lie under oath. It was obvious this would happen when Obama formally authorized propaganda targeting the American people.
I hope they lose all credibility. Then maybe people will actually have to talk to other people to get information again. And realize what's actually causing problems for real people.
News media stopped being unbiased journalism decades ago, when it became more important to make instant news for more viewers/listeners/readers for increased advertising revenue.
No doubt about as Pravda is doing an excellent job of it with TV, Internet, academia publications, magazine, and etc
I'm disappointed the other 50% don't believe the same about the mainstream media.
Not surprise. why allow news to brain wash you?
No shock, but I think the real number may be higher. Much of the media nowadays are straight trash
Yeah, they only tell you what they want and leave out important details to make it look how they want it
That is so true... Fox and Nesmax push Rep and every other media try to push Dems
I’m more surprised there’s still half of the country that thinks the media is telling the truth.
True so true it’s called divide and conquer you can’t do that if everyone is getting along
All media serves their own agenda imho,,,
This is probably more true than not.
That’s the truth
I agree with that survey
Of course.
