Taylor Swift call to action drives 13,000 people every 30 minutes to voter registration site

Taylor Swift managed to drive record-breaking numbers to voter registration website Vote. org after urging her 232 million followers on Instagram to take action.

On Tuesday (19 September), hours after the pop star, 32, called on her US fanbase to register to vote in honor of National Voter Registration Day, Vote. org’s communication director, Nick Morrow, announced that “our site was averaging 13,000 users every 30 minutes”.

“Fun fact: after @TaylorSwift13 posted on Instagram today directing her followers to register to vote on @votedotorg, our site was averaging 13,0000 users every 30 minutes,” Morrow wrote on X/Twitter.

I have no problem with it; it's nothing more than several thousand typical sheep that will do anything that a person of apparent authority tells them to do. So now they're registered, now what? If these "Swifties" actually formulate the an opinion on who to vote for (I'm sure T. S. will tell them who they should vote for), and actually summon the energy to go out and cast their vote, they will probably never figure out where their polling place is located. If they aren't able to vote via TikTok or Instagram, they'll probably lose interest pretty quick. "What?, I'm not allowed to take selfies inside of my polling location?

I could get behind a basic civics test to vote. At a minimum, don't make it easier to vote. If you can't even be arsed to make it to the registration station and update your ID once every 4 years you don't have enough skin in the game to have a say.

I think everyone should get out and vote. The biggest problem I have is a VERY great deal of people buy into the manipulations constantly spewed by the media. Way too many people refuse to reference history, or vote on issues that are BEST for the Country. They vote the way they are TOLD to vote.

Registering to vote isn't an issue in of itself. It becomes a problem when influential people use their platform to preach politics as a way of potentially swaying people to vote in line with what they believe, and given how much influence celebrities have, it does not take much.

Here in Germany you are registered to vote by being born.

And automatically get your reminder in the mail when there is an election and you are old enough to vote in it. As well as the form to apply for voting by mail if you want this.
