The major news on Saturday 13 July 2024 was the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally outside Butler Pennsylvania, and the media has been reporting only that since.

But did you know that two well-known persons died that day?

Ruth Westheimer, known simply as Dr. Ruth, the sex therapist rose who rose to fame with her syndicated talk show Sexually Speaking.

Richard Simmons, a fitness guru who won four daytime Emmys for his health-focused Richard Simmons Show, who celebrated his 76th birthday the day before his death.

I was just talking about Dr. Ruth a couple of weeks ago. WOW!

Because I am older sometimes guys message me with questions they don't want to ask in the forum.

They look to me like a mother figure some of them.

We speak as mature adults about private issues and I answer their questions.

But a few weeks ago I remember asking the guy who messaged me if he ever heard of Dr. Ruth but he hadn't. He was too young.

But I felt like Dr. Ruth when I was explaining how things work down there and about circumcized or not and what the difference is.

It's kinda cool 😎 when they come to me and trust me enough to confide in me.

I always keep things totally confidential.

OMG! I had absolutely no idea who either of these people are (were). But yes, I actually did read an article about that today (early Monday). Apparently, Dr. Westheimer was a sex therapist… ON TELEVISION! And Richard Simmons was apparently a very, very, very, very gay television exercise guru! What I can't get is why Richard Simmons was on her show? Did they literally talk about gay sex in the 1990s on broadcast television? If they did, that is insane and I never wanna hear anyone complaining about TV these days!

I heard about Richard Simmons he was awesome I really liked him I still have several of his VHS tapes sweating to the oldies and step and sweat and tone and sweat. I did not hear about Dr Ruth until now two icons from the 20th century for sure

Yes, I was familiar with both. At least they lived long lives. Shannen Doherty died the same day at only 53, and Benjamin Gregory Hertzberg, from the show ALF, died last month at 46. It's been a rough time for fans of '80's and '90's TV.

I heard about Richard Simmons. I heard a few weeks ago that he was going to make a comeback. Dr. Ruthmust have been a hundred. It seems like she was old 40 years ago.
