Just 81 years ago, four hundred and twenty thousand Americans gave up their LIVES in WWII so that future generations could remain free from tyranny. How quickly the world forgets. And hundreds of thousands more Americans died to keep the country and the world free in generations that came before that. My father and uncle were in WWII and were lucky enough to survive. My father was a successful doctor, but to the end there was nothing he was more proud of than being a part of the force that stopped Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan from taking away EVERYONE'S freedom for generations to come.

Do people today not understand? Freedom is NOT FREE!

Just because you were lucky enough to reap the benefits of all the sacrifices of the generations that came before you on your behalf does not mean you can go through life and just ignore evil in the world.

They gave their lives FOR YOU. And you are willing to give it all up because you have to pay a few more pennies for a gallon of gas for a few months to put the pressure on the enemy to surrender? WAKE UP or your freedom will be gone. If you think a few cents more a gallon for gas for a little while is too much to sacrifice, you will regret the day you were born when you freedom is taken away from you. Stop being a naïve spoiled child and GET BEHIND PRESIDENT TRUMP'S EFFORT TO SAVE YOUR ASSES!

Thanks for writing this. My father was a POW in WW2 and a lot of the men in my old neighborhood were WW2 vets. These guys were all heroes. If my father was still alive I am sure he would be saying "For this I saved the world for democracy?"

1. Ww2 was not a "fight for freedom". 2. also 417 000 deaths. 3. The revolution was for liberty.

4. Ww2 was almost entirely helping allies: their liberty not ours. And almost all of the allies, we u. s. should not have helped. Nor were most of the battles even justified. F. D. R. -d horrible mismanagement.

5. $1.50 added each gallon is more than a 'few pennies" 6. the iran war is also not about liberty. That said: trump was right to respond to iran threat, and provocations, so this war and blockade were necessary and justified, despite double gas price.

The only two facts you stated were that there were 417 thousand Americans were killed in the war and that gasoline prices are $1.50 a gallon higher than they were before the current conflict in Iran started.

I rounded the number of Americans dead 420 thousand instead of 417 thousand. I'll let others decide the importance of that difference.

The average price of a gallon of gasoline in America the day before the conflict started was $2.98. The average price of gasoline today is $4.392 an increase of $1.412 per gallon. Applying the same logic you used with the number of Americans that died the increase was $1.412 per gallon, not $1.50 so by your logic I must therefore disagree with you on the accuracy of that fact.

If we'd not joined when we did and stayed out we would have watched the fall of Europe, the Scandinavian, and Russian countries along with everywhere else at the nazis leisure. I think the problem is in schools not really teaching history that well anymore or not at all It seems since they are so focused on the present and not what has happened in the past or how this affects our future freedoms. I have no problem paying a few dollars more to fill my tank since it’s over a dollar a gallon more than a few weeks ago but it’s temporary because they should be almost done with Iran because it’s affecting the whole world now. We won’t run out of fuel but the oil companies are sure profiting from it

My Dad and Uncle were Navy Officers. Dad served with the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) in Ft. Pierce FL. It later became the Navy SEALS. And he served in Pearl Harbor, HI and in China (who believe it or not was an ally then against Japan). He was with the 6th Marine Division in China and they were on standby to invade Japan if the atom bombs didn't do the job. He would have been on the front line of that attack. Those bombs saved his life. My uncle was a navigator for an escort ship for the USS Intrepid.

Dad used to brag that he was in the Army (while he was in college), the Navy AND the Marines. It's pretty cool.

The major difference is our accents :). The broad brush strokes of both our countries are remarkable similar, shared values etc. Both of us are currently being white anted by the Left. Europe sadly is much further along that path.
