This "conflict" has been on-going for 4 decades. Clinton, GW Bush, Obama, and Biden have all promised to take decisive action, but aside from a couple of small strikes, they mostly ignored the problem as Iran continued to refine their Uranium. Obama literally thought he could buy them off by giving them literal billions of dollars in US taxpayer cash, delivered on pallets - they took the money and kept refining.

And the more refined their Uranium was, the more they ratcheted up their rhetoric to nuke Israel and America. Their religion teaches them that non-believers must be literally annihilated, and that's exactly what they planned to do. They weren't subtle about it either - they spoke openly about it on their own national TV channels.

Should Trump have waited until they nuked a major US city before he took action?

@MrOracle I'm living in Europe, much closer to Iran than the US. I don't care if they can reach the US maybe in 10 years or whenever. They can't right now but they can reach Europe.

There was a nuclear deal in place. International inspectors could go into the nuclear facilities and control them. Was it perfect? Maybe not, but for sure better than any shit that's going on right now.

With no deal in place, no one knows what's going on in their nuclear facilities right now. Schools get bombed, other countries get bombed, including drone strike on EU territory. Thousands of people are dying, the economy gets dragged down and for what? What has this shit show achieved so far? Iran is still so confident they don't care about any of the US threats or proposals. On the flip side, the US has used so many of their missiles that they don't ship promised stuff to the EU and Ukraine who desperately need them as defense against Russia.
Netanyahu has been praying that "Iran is only 6 months away from the nuclear bomb" for how long? 3 decades? Every president of the US knew that it's a shit idea to attack Iran. Everyone knew you can't cut off the head of a hydra. Everyone except one orange brain-dead monkey who desperately needed some distraction from some Epstein files. The same person who promised to not start any new wars in the middle East.

Except that they weren't actually allowing International inspectors. That WAS the agreement, yes - they just weren't honoring it.

The other problem is that once Iran has nukes, they essentially have nukes forever. Does anyone think THAT is a good idea? That's like waiting until someone gets Stage 4 cancer before trying to treat them, when you found the cancer at Stage 1 but didn't want to bother them when it wasn't really that big of a problem yet. That's an idiotic strategy (which is why doctors don't do that) - you want to address those kinds of problems as soon as possible, before they get worse.

The problem is, none of this happened. In fact, Iran now has an even stronger argument to try to get the nuclear bomb. Thousands of people died, economy crippled and the opposite achieved of what was the goal.

Even if I'd give Trump the benefit of the doubt and say his intentions were good (which I absolutely don't believe), the execution is a disaster.

The new leaders could have chosen to surrender their nuclear material before any of that happened - Trump has had multiple peace talks and cease-fires, and Iran has violated every one. Everyone knew what would happen if they did that. Why did they think they could tell Trump no? Because they figured they had a strong economy and plenty of friends - Trump had to show them that their economy was irrelevant and their friends would desert them, and now, they have to deal with the uprisings of their own people. This is how wars are won.

@MrOracle except that the US isn't winning the war at the current rate and that the population isn't uprising anymore after they have been let down by Trump and over 10000 got killed during the last protests.

No matter how you look at it, he's doing a terrible job. He couldn't even get the most basic stuff right, like informing his allies or try getting a mandate from the UN (or even his stupid new peace board or whatever it's called).
