The House of Representatives has passed a bipartisan bill to make Daylight Savings Time permanent. Congress has been talking about this for years. During the Nixon Administration there was an energy crisis so they started Daylight Savings Time in January 1974 . People got an extra hour of daylight but the mornings were still dark and there was a concern about kids walking to school in the dark.

Daylight Savings time is the way it should be all year long! I don’t think standard time has any wonderful qualities, on the contrary – it stinks. Why we are forced to go through the whole house, twice a year resetting the clocks I will never know. I feel like I’m doing “stupid human tricks” every time when doing that. When our country is on DST time, just leave it alone, for the love of God already. New Zealand entomologist George Hudson first proposed modern DST, it gave him spare time to collect insects. That is something worth inconveniencing 342 million people, in this country, over right?
Benjamin Franklin is usually credited with inventing daily savings time (DST) ... for the benefit of farmers so they could tend to their crops in light, not darkness. That was almost 3 centuries ago, when the US was mostly rural. In today's world, where the country is mostly urban, it makes no sense to change times for half the year.
The only concern I have is the effect that no longer changing between DST and standard time will have on computers and other electronic systems. It will have a significant effect, similar to what Y2K did to the computer industry.
We don't change our clocks. We and Hawaii know what we're doing. Why you other 48 states still do it for is beyond me. I would like it to stick where we're on Pacific time, not Mountain time though. I kind of like that better.
Antiquated ideal that has severely outlived it's usefulness and it's time has come to be done away with.
yes! that is the way to fix the clock change.
don't switch to standard in autumn. this is better than 'keep standard all year' to replace moving. finally something bipartisan.
I like turning the clocks twice a year.
What I don't like is trying to go to sleep at 9:00 PM and the sunshine ☀️ 🌞 is still as bright 😎 as ever!
We are not the law makers i guess our opinion won't matter
au contrair! if you agree then reelect your representative. if not then vote him out!
I just want them to stop changing the time twice a year. Just pick a. time and stick to it.
I'm okay with it. I like more daylight later in the day.
They should totally do away with it. There's no need for it. British Summer Time (BST) belongs in the past.
Simples...
I like it. It gets dark before 5pm non day light hours.
It’s fine I’ll have to think about it more And I’ll let you know my decision if you private message me later 😂
it affected electric bill and home use.
OK either way, but the dark mornings for students can raise concerns.
Won't bother me.
DST is a fucking joke. Needs to go permanently
I'm down with it.
cute wording. you remind me of a democrat ad: are you down with democracy? say it! "down with democracy'.
sadly dems actually oppose voting see my recent. uestion.
