Should every American be required to spend a week in a socialist country to prevent the deadly cancer of socialism from spreading here?

Could be based on a true example (just one of many) … Eating pigeons in the park is socialist Venezuela because they ran out of zoo animals when their failed socialist economy completely collapsed. Remember when Democrats were pointing to Venezuela as a perfect socialist model for our own economy? Then the collapse came and they never talked about it again. Venezuela, the most oil rich country in the world was dragged down so far by socialism that they couldn’t even afford to get the oil out of the ground to sell (until President Trump came along that is to rescue them).

Then again, how about doing East Germany… everything was “free” there right? Just like money grew on trees and rainbows and unicorns appeared at will. As socialist as it gets. Get everything you need from the government so you don’t have to work right? Until it all collapsed that is and people had to wait years to get a habitable place to live and 10-15 years to get the cheapest cars in the world to get around. Did I mention that the government spied on every citizen and every move they made and the air got so bad there masses of people were dying from the pollution of fires burning to stay warm because it was all they could afford?

Then there’s Zimbabwe. Man that was a story about 25 years ago. When they went socialist they went from the breadbasket of Africa to a country filled with staving people forced to eat bugs and the government seized private farms while they desperately had to then rely on charity food from other countries so as not to be wiped out. Oh yeah, their currency became worthless as socialism wiped it out. That would make a great episode.

Then there’s the Soviet Union… wait on line for a full day to get a couple of pieces of bread while the entire population became undernourished and emaciated like skeletons. Great stuff for socialists!

Then there’s… woops I ran out of room…. WAKE UP AMERICA!

Any system is broken if there's corruption. Without corruption socialism would work but nobody would want to be a socialist if there wasn't any corruption. ㅤ

Socialism has never worked at any time in history that it was tried. It is a catastrophically flawed economic system that cannot succeed even if it is run by a tribunal of angels. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Not true Testttinnggg. It’s flawed from the start. It relies on distribution of wealth from the wealthy. What happens when the wealthy leave or are no longer wealthy? Where do you get your money then?

The wealthy pay most of the taxes that pay for all the "free stuff" socialist governments promise to the ignorant who don't understand there is no such thing as a free lunch. They already pay a huge percentage of those taxes. How much more do you think they are going to agree to pay before they either close their companies because it isn't worth it causing the loss of millions of jobs or take their money to some other country that treats them better? Then where does the money come from? That is exactly what happens every time with socialism and then it collapses. It's not like we don't already have enough examples to know it.

That's an interesting question. Because i've always thought Capitalism sells itself, much like any good product sells itself. But i also grew up at the end of the cold war. We new what we were up against. You didn't have to be convinced of American exceptionalism. The evidence was all around you. But todays youth is so fat, lazy, and medicated that they might actually believe the nonsense of a Socialistic utopia. Because if you've never faced adversity you might actually believe it's just always out there for you. I go through this constantly with my sister. The United States is the richest most powerful nstion on Earth. But what i'm most proud of about her is The United States is also the most CHARITABLE nation on Earth. To quote Dinesh D'Souza there has never been a greater nation. For good in the history of mankind. To quote George W. Bush, "The liberty we prize is not America's gift to the world, it's God's gift to humanity". I know the reality is the world better hope the United States never loses that fire for being the brightest beacon of freedom for the world.

Couldn't agree more. From my personal observation though, it's not the kids who are any different than we were, it is their education that led them down the wrong path. I've told this story a number of times and it guides my thinking on this to this day. I originally went to college in the mid 70s. In the late 80s I returned to a top Ivy League college to obtain additional degrees. Two of the courses I took were from a "renowned" Harvard American history professor.

I could not believe what I heard. It was a completely bastardized version of the American history I knew and was taught in my childhood years. Both courses at the college focused entirely on slavery and American Indians. There was virtually nothing else about all the unprecedented and incredible contributions to mankind that this county has made... equaled by no other nation in the 300-thousand-year history of modern humans. And on the exams, if you wanted to pass, you better regurgitate what you heard out of the mouth of that propagandist posing as an educator or you would not pass the course. It was one of the most enlightening moments of my life and really woke me up to politics (which by the way is the subject of one of my degrees).

By then I was an older student and many others in the classes were significantly younger than me. It was those courses, in the late 80s that woke me up to what was happening in the country, how we were filling the heads of our youth and electorate with this mush, and how very dangerous it was. From that time on I have always believed that the most dangerous threat to America is the far left's domination the educational system. Yes, their domination of the media is a close second. But at virtually every evil regime in history knew well that if they could corrupt the minds of the youth, they could corrupt the future of the country they live in.

And now I am afraid the chickens have come home to roost. The leadership of the right is not without blame either if for no other reason than that they abandoned their duty to combat this cancer and didn't do nearly enough to stop it. They became corrupt, fat and lazy too.
