Guys won't look me in the eyes?

I've noticed that guys don't look me in the eyes. It could be school, work, or just out shopping...and yet girls will look me in the eyes but not guys. Guys will either glance or not look me in the eyes at all.

Is this normal?

Or are the just trying to avoid looking directly into my eyes for a specific reason? Is it because guys are intimidated by me or is it because they think I'm ugly and they don't want to give me the idea that they're interested?

(I'm referring to young men 18-30 because I don't get this from older men)

The sad fact is that this generation of young men haven't been raised with instructions on how to communicate socially. The increase of online social utilities has worsened this condition. Young men don't know how to properly interact amongst themselves, let alone members of the opposite gender. I could rant on and on about it, but let me console you by informing you that this is completely average (not normal, but average), and that this happens to other women and men who know how to carry themselves.

A word of advice: stay away from guys who are timid like this. It is the antithesis of masculinity. It is more than just a confidence issue. It is also a matter of respect to the other people. Eye contact and firm communication are a fundamental to communication, especially among men. I apologize for my timid, spineless, emasculated peers.

  Well I definitely don't agree with anything you just said. & that feeling of how much hate your gonna get is the feeling of vulnerability, that someone would read right through the lie you just put down.

I blame the new bullsh*t society that we live in... its supposeto be all about being nice & polite... get real, in all our minds there are hideous thoughts, these thoughts are discomforting & they linger beneath the surface. Whether you are ugly or not guys generally do not maintain eye contact...

MAYBE the reason is you can tell a persons emotions through their eyes, i.e you can tell if someone is scared, happy angry etc through their eyes. Meaning looking directly into the eye may expose one to his vulnerabilities.

As as result of society not allowing boys to show any vulnerabilty, we grow NOT to maintain eye contact, even when we feel the strongest.

I think it's because you're pretty probably & they are trying to be subtle about noticing that too. I have had guys look at me, then turn away when I noticed. it just means they're checking you out or admiring you like how you look. they could also be shy also.

I for one will always look at a girl while talking to her. If I am interested in a girl or trying to get to know her I will give her my undivided attention. No, I do not give her a dear in the headlights stare and I will not creep her out by staring down her pupils but I will look her in the eyes. I figure she deserves at least that much if she's spending time with me.

A real lates pic of yours can help alot. But I don't think it is just bcoz you are ugly. Soometimes I am really unlucky to get my problums fixed. So I blame myself. May be you too are unlucky to face such guys always, till now. So don't panic I think. Your time will come back for you again.

k so the blackkid is wrong, yet right.

looking a guy in the eye is kinda gay, however if we have a conflict it then becomes a way to intimidate the guy, showing him your the alpha male

with women, it is a sign of attraction, when a guy and girl lock eyes, if the guy were to turn around it would show a sign of weakness and dis-confidence, it shows the female you are no alpha-male. if she were to turn around 1st she would get an anxiety & through anxiety you can create flames if you know how

only time I break eye contact with a girl is when I gotta look down at her breasts

  Hey I'm just telling it like I see it... if absolutely no guy wants to make eye contact with you... something is wrong. I don't make eye contact with girls whos looks don't gain my attention & if they hideously stand out I wouldn't make eye contact.

  DISCLAIMER: I was in no way intending to degrade the black people nor make reference to them using bad grammar. My best friend is black and I only chose those words because most Rap artists are of that ethnicity. There are stupid people in every race from whites to blacks and everything in between. Your not ugly - I'm incredibly shy and I don't look at women in the eyes because I'm intimidated and don't want to creep them out. The more attractive the woman, the harder it is for me

That is a socially conditioned attribute. Males do not look males in the eyes when talking either, and females do, locking eyes is a symbol of attraction in this society.
