nothing was urgent and he wanted to talk to you but he doesn't want to seem too I don't know weird? like "hey what's up? I'm bored, do you want to talk?" sounds a lot better than "OMG I LOVE YOU LETS HAVE A CONVERSATION!" I think that second one would scare the vast majority of the population.
